17 Ways to Laugh Your Ass Off

By

Just because it's the end of the year, doesn't mean there is a lack of comedy shows. In fact, there are an overabundance of opportunities to laugh your ass off well into 2014.
Chris Kattan
The Saturday Night Live alum gives us his brand of stand-up. I'm crossing my fingers for the return of Mango.
When: Various time, December 12-15
Where: Cobb's Comedy Club, 915 Columbus Ave.

Bobby Slayton
He's been seen in movies like Ed Wood and Dreamgirls. His signature gravelly voice has been heard in Family Guy. But most of all, he's known as "The Pitbull of Comedy" so get ready for some biting comedy. (See what I did there?)
When: Various times, December 12-14
Where: Punch Line Comedy Club, 444 Battery St.

Jim Gaffigan
America's favorite cleverly jaded father and author of "Dad is Fat" stops by San Francisco on his national White Bread Tour. Sounds delicious.
When: 7:30 p.m., December 13
Where: The Warfield, 982 Market St.

An Evening with Razowsky & Hamilton
Between the two of them, David Razowksy and Rachel Hamilton have performed and written for Second City, UCB ASSSCAT and have redits on 30 Rock and The Conan O'Brien Show. With their powers combined (and a special guests appearance by musical improvisers Huge), they will give one helluva show.
When: 8 p.m., December 13 and 14
Where: The Phoenix Theater, 414 Mason St.

Mortified 8 Year Anniversary "Best of 2013" Supershow
Get ready for the anniversary of the most celebrated show of self-degredation as people share their most angsty and cringe-worthy moments of their lives...in front of total strangers. It will be mortifying...hence the name of the show.
When: 6:30 p.m., December 13
Where: DNA Lounge, 375 11th St.

The truTV Impractical Jokers Tour
Q, Sal, Joe, and Murr bring their comedy, improv, never before seen videos, and other pranking shenannigans from their popular TV show to the stage.
When: 8 p.m., December 14
Where: The Warfield, 982 Market St.

W. Kamau Bell
He's socially conscious. He's a community activist. He has as podcast called "The Field Negro Guide to Arts & Culture." He's damn funny. And that's why he's a San Francisco favorite.
When: 8 p.m., December 17 and 18
Where: Punch Line Comedy Club, 444 Battery St.

Ali Wong
In addition to being a series regular on Are You There, Chelsea? and a bunch of comedy specials, she's been labeled as one a "comics to watch" by many publications...and we have been watching her. A lot. And we like her. A lot. When: Various times, December 19-21
Where: Punch Line Comedy Club, 444 Battery St.

Joe Derosa & Big Jay Oakerson
Both Joe and Jay have overwhelmingly impressive resumes. From appearances on Louie to multiple stand-up specials to stints on late night TV, these they deserve your time and laughs.

Where: Cobb's Comedy Club, 915 Columbus Ave.

Paula Poundstone: 4th Annual Ha Ha Ho Ho Holiday Comedy Show
The comedy veteran will bring forth all the "ha ha ha's" and the "ho ho ho's" this fine holiday season with this comedy show that, as the title indicates, is still going strong at four years.
When: 8 p.m., December 20
Where: The Palace of Fine Arts, 3601 Lyon St.

Christmas Comedy Jam Starring Kabir "Kabeezy" Singh
Do you like Christmas? Do you like comedy? Do you like to Jam? Well, host Kabir Singh will bring all of that to you and mix in some comedy from Ellis Rodriguez, Steph Garcia, Mario Montes and more.
When: 7:30 p.m., December 22
Where: Cobb's Comedy Club, 915 Columbus Ave.

21st Annual Kung Pao Kosher Comedy: Jewish Comedy on Christmas in a Chinese Restaurant
It's been 21 years and this event is still as better as ever. Who wouldn't want to see some good ol' fashioned Jewish Comedy on Christmas while dining on fine Chinese cuisine.

Where: New Asia Restaurant, 772 Pacific Ave.

Taylor Williamson
He took second place on the most recent season of America's Got Talent, but he is number one in all of our hearts...right?
When: Various times, December 26-27
Where: Cobb's Comedy Club, 915 Columbus Ave.

Greg Proops
He's a Bay Area native, so when he comes to town, he knows what he's talking about. Plus, he has a podcast  called "The Smartest Man in the World" so anything he says bears utter importance and we must listen. Oh yeah, he's a master improviser (as testimony to his time on Who's Line is it Anyway?) and funny as hell too.
When: Various times, December 28-31
Where: Punch Line Comedy Club, 444 Battery St.

John Oliver
We've see him do some of the best journalist work on The Daily Show and have been treated to his comedic panache on Community. Now, we get to see this national treasure from across the pond do a stand-up show all on his own.
When: Various times, December 28-31
Where: Cobb's Comedy Club, 915 Columbus Ave.
