Why rent out additional pop-up retail space when you can have a shop-within-company-headquarters? 49 Square Miles, a luxurious, yet understated accessory line based out of South San Francisco decided to utilize their work space to the max: They just opened a charming retail space located on the ground level of their office building. An eclectic mix of handbags, belts, jewelry, and scarves will be open for business on Fridays, or by appointment.

Founder and Creative Director Lisa Rissetto began 49 Square Miles in 2007 after years of aspiring to create a line inspired by the crafty culture of San Francisco. Made from fine fabrics and buttery Italian leathers, these goods have a utilitarian edge, but with refined craftsmanship. Picks of the current collection are the adorable, concert-ready Utility Messenger in Indigo ($180) and the double strap, equestrian chic Little Bit Belt ($175).

Doubling as a testing ground for products, the retail space will carry new collections, designs from previous seasons, samples, and prototypes. A friend of Lisa's, who happens to be a former Neiman Marcus visual merchandiser, helped create the complimentary space. Repurposed items like wire fencing mixed with vintage pieces like a vintage wooden ladder populate the cozy space while providing smart fixtures for the accessories.
