Gospel Choir Joins Jewish Harvest Festival

Celebrate Sukkot this Saturday with a gospel choir, etrog cocktails and sukkah tours at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco. For the gentiles among us, Sukkot is a harvest festival, etrog is a lemon-like fruit also known as citron, and sukkah means "booth" or "impermanent structure." Starting at 3pm, participants can join JCC's garden specialist for tours of sukkahs erected on-site, sip on citrus cocktails, make their own stuffed grape leaves, and entertain the kids with story time and playground activities. Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir will perform at 4:30. Free and open to the public. // 3200 California St. (Presidio Heights), jccsf.org

Basque Hotel Dinner with Wine Pairings

Bask in Basque hospitality this Thursday at Piperade's Basque hotel dinner with wine pairings, starting at 6:45pm. According to chef-proprieter Gerald Hirigoyen, who will oversee the evening, "Basque hotels have long been social centers that helped locals and boarders preserve their culture when in a foreign country. A meal of familiar dishes and a good bottle of wine was another way to stay connected." The $125 ticket includes a four-course, Burgundy-focused dinner paired with wines from Domaine Vincent Girardin. Make reservations by calling (415) 391-2555 or emailing events@piperade.com. // 1015 Battery St. (Embarcadero), piperade.com
