6 New Brunches Around Town

By

Ready to add more brunch options to your roster? Of course you are. Here are six new places serving brunch, from Friday brunch to alfresco brunch and (of course) boozy brunch.

Fable

Do you know about the sunny and flower-filled back garden patio of this Castro spot? Well, now you do. Brunch dishes on the menu include smoked salmon with kohlrabi slaw and mascarpone, and get it while you can: the soft-shell crab BLT (we mentioned this a few weeks ago!). Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 11am–2:30pm. 558 Castro St. at 19th St., 415-590-2404

Green Chile Kitchen

This Nopa neighborhood mainstay has a new brunch menu (I know, it’ll be hard to give up your breakfast burrito habit), with dishes like huevos motulenos (corn tortilla, eggs, black beans, green chile, peas, feta, and fried plantains) and a frittata served enchilada-style, layered with tortillas and green chile. Watermelon mimosas, intriguing. Available on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am–2 pm. 1801 McAllister St. at Baker, 415-440-9411

Loló

Enjoy a blast of color with your brunch at Loló's fun new Valencia Street digs, and check this: brunch is served every Friday (at 11:30am!), Saturday, and Sunday from 11am-4pm. There’s a Mexican Benedict on the menu (with eggs, corn gorditas, creamy poblano sauces, refried beans, and shishito peppers, or how can you pass up croissant French toast? Impossible. The full bar means you have brunch cocktail options too. Buenos dias! 974 Valencia St. at 21st St., 415-643-5656

Palm House

Have you had a chance to check out this new addition to Union Street? You’ll be taking a round-trip ticket around the world to tropical locations via breakfasts like fried eggs revoltillo with plantains, rice, beans, and Puerto Rican spices or there’s a Cubano too. Brunch cocktails include an Island Bloody Mary with Palm House jerk spice blend, vodka, and a spiced rim, and punch bowls for your posse, oh yeah. Brunch served Saturday and Sunday from 10:30am–2:30pm. 2032 Union St. at Buchanan, 415-400-4355

Red Dog

Lauren Kiino’s new SoMa restaurant has an outdoor patio and a full bar too, both nice features for brunch. There’s also an insane Red Dog Brunch Platter ($18) on the menu, with two fried eggs, grilled shortribs, housemade breakfast sausage, bacon, butter beans, and an English muffin (don’t worry, regular appetites can go for griddled French toast, a fried egg sandwich, and scrambled eggs with crescenza cheese). Served Saturday and Sunday 10am–3pm. 303 2nd St. at Harrison, 415-692-0211

The Square

North Beach has a new brunch destination, and the place is spacious enough to get you bleary-eyed folks in there relatively quickly. Full bar, check (the Spearmint Southside should have you feeling good quickly, and it’ll freshen your dragon breath). The menu has a buttermilk biscuit and gravy (to start) and an eggs Benedict with frisée, Surryano ham, and crispy potato, or there’s buttermilk pancakes with housemade butter, blueberries, and whipped cream. Served Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30am–2pm. 1707 Powell St. at Columbus, 415-525-3579
