7 Fun Things This Week: Mimosa Lands, National S'mores Day + More Can't-Miss Events

Mark your calendars.

Monday, August 7th: Bollywood Cardio Workout @ Dogpatch Dance & Yoga

When: 6:30-7:30pm

Where: 435 23rd St., Ste. 19 (Dogpatch), eventbrite.com

Why: It may be Monday, but who says it has to be dull? Start the week with a power workout—the Bollywood way. BollyX ($15) is a high intensity cardio workout with a soundtrack to die for.

Tuesday, August 8th: All Things Cute @ Bedford Gallery

When: Noon to 5pm

Where: 1601 Civic Dr. (Walnut Creek), bedfordgallery.org

Why: Infuse the work week with an extra dose of cuteness. Come Tuesday, take a stroll through the Bedford Gallery's "Sweet 'n Low." With works by more than 120 artists "who extend the genre of cute from cuddly and precious to creepy and ironic"—think Margaret Keane's Big Eyes and Japanese anime—the exhibit all but promises you'll leave with an ear-to-ear smile.

Wednesday, August 9th: Elevate Your Yoga Routine @ Sport's Basement

When: 7:30-8:30pm

Where: 2727 Milvia St. (South Berkeley), sportbasment.com

Why: See why countless yogis are choosing to take their positions to new heights—pun intended—through acro ("acrobatic") yoga. During this class, you'll learn how to create balancing and dynamic movements with the aid of a partner. No previous experience is required, and no need to BYO partner. Class is free to attend at a first-come, first-serve basis.

Thursday, August 10th: National S'mores Day @ Spark Social SF

When: 4-9pm

Where: 601 Mission Bay Blvd. (Mission Bay), facebook.com

Why: How can you go wrong with molten marshmallows and milk chocolate, all sandwiched together between two golden graham crackers? In honor of National S'mores Day, the folks at Spark Social SF will be toasting (literally) this campfire classic along with savory options (think burgers and beers). Everything you need for making s'mores will be provided. Just come as you are—this sweet little event is free to attend.

Friday, August 11th: Comedy and Craft Beer @ Beer Basement

When: 8pm to 10pm

Where: 222 Hyde St. (Tenderloin), setupcomedy.com

Why: Once the green room for Blackhawk Jazz, The Setup aims to bring a true alternative to the more mundane, politically correct comedy sets many club owners are opting for nowadays. Every bit as raw and real as last year's lineup, this year's show brings hosts Richard Sarvate and Abhay Nadkarni, who will share the mic with some of SF's best unfiltered and underground comedic voices. But be sure not to spill your Beer Basement brew of choice during those fits of ab-staining laughs. Tickets start at $10 a person at Eventbrite.

Saturday, August 12th: Mimosa Lands Is a Thing @ The Dorian

When: Noon to 6pm

Where: 2001 Chestnut St. (Marina District), doriansf.com

Why: As if you needed another reason have an indulgent Saturday brunch, The Dorian will be celebrating Outside Lands with their own Mimosa Lands par-tay. From noon to 6pm, go for musical performances, savory eats, and bottomless mimosas (tickets are $20 at Eventbrite). For festival ticketholders, transportation will be provided for $10 a seat.

Sunday, August 13th: Drink With Puppies @ The Winery SF

When: Noon to 5pm

Where: 30 Avenue G (Treasure Island), winery-sf.com

Why: Because, apparently, Canines and Cabs is an actual thing. Enjoy a midday outing with your favorite four-legged friend at The Winery on Treasure Island, where you can hang out for wine tastings, cellar tours, and puppy play-dates. (All dogs must be on a leash.) RSVP before the event on Eventbrite to save $3 off the $15 door price.
