Japantown Is Hip Again

photography by Ricky Camargo at

Greetings chums,
Another weekend is upon us, and I've just discovered the coolest spot to hang out in: Japantown. Yes, this ’hood is cool again thanks to some new restaurants like bushi-tei, the reborn Kabuki Theatre and a hotel or two that have received massive makeovers. We’ve been closing our August Eat + Drink issue and needless to say I’ve been just a little busy. So for today, here’s some candy for the eyes from The Candy Store, which opened rather recently in Russian Hill. You’ll just have to go and find your own inner child.

film nerds. I’m still on my much-needed sabbatical from the Reel. In the meantime, here’s a list of film happenings around town. Until we meet again, be bad and, get into trouble baby.
