Bay Area-Based Modify/d Makes Pillows Perfect For Fall
If there's one thing to love about fall, it's the chance to break out all those cozy sweaters that have been sitting patiently in the back of the closet. While I love (love) warm weather, there's just nothing like fall fashion's warm knits to get me excited about the change of seasons. But while outfitting myself is fun, it's dressing my home that's my passion. So what's the interior design equivalent of pulling on a new sweater? Read more. . .
Parking Quiz: The Mother of All Parking Rules
It's no secret that parking in the city is a bitch. So we've enlisted local parking guru and author of Finding the Sweet Spot, David La Bua, to dish out weekly tips on navigating the ins and outs of city parking.
There are more than 23,000 parking meters, 200,000 traffic signs, 1,100 traffic signals, and 880 miles of lane lines on the streets of San Francisco. It’s no wonder that navigating and parking in our city can be frustrating, and receiving parking tickets has become just a part of daily SF life.
Alice Waters' Kitchen in Vanity Fair
There's no doubt that Chez Panisse founder and eat-your-vegetables poster girl Alice Waters has a lovely home kitchen filled with colorful, and indeed fiber-tastic, provisions from sweet little farms the world over. Vanity Fair recently scored a sneak peek inside the notoriously private restaurateur's personal canteen.
Bay Area Power Couples: Arik Levy & Holly Nugent-Levy of Laundry Locker
It's hard to start a business in the Bay Area. And even harder to make it successful. We're inspired by the couples who have done it together and have decided to highlight them every week in our "Bay Area Power Couples" blog series.
Opera in the Park to Serenade Hippie Hill This Sunday
This Sunday, opera takes Hippie Hill back from the drum circles. Spread out a blanket in Golden Gate Park for a leisurely afternoon of opera floating through the trees to soothe your soul before another work week.
A Plea: Bring Back the Bartender
I was at Cafe Des Amis in Cow Hollow the other night. As usual, I sat at my preferred spot to eat dinner: The bar. I was pleasantly surprised to see a bartender there that has served me in the past when he worked at Perbacco. His name is Scott Wolf and he's my kind of guy: friendly, a little saucy, always professional and on his game.
Rabbit Foot Fern: Your Favorite Local Etsy Store
Thanks so much for voting for your favorite local Etsy store! We had a bunch of great entries - all of which inspired us to be crafty! But it was Rabbit Foot Fern who won the popular vote with her cute brand of hand-printed cards. I mean, how adorable is this whale anniversary card? (And how refreshing is it to see whales broken free from the "fail"?)
So...congrats to Rabbit Foot Fern!
She'll be featured in the November Design issue of 7x7 as your favorite local Etsy store.

Cutting-Edge 3-D Drives Latest 'Resident Evil' Adventure
For British-born Paul William Scott Anderson – not to be confused with Studio City native Paul Thomas Anderson, the five-time Oscar nominee behind Boogie Nights and Magnolia – the decision to direct Resident Evil: Afterlife, due Friday, was inspired, at least in part, by a fortuitous encounter with James Cameron.
