A Traditional Yet Modern Chinese Wedding on Montara Beach

A Traditional Yet Modern Chinese Wedding on Montara Beach

By

What happens when you blend the rich culture and beauty of Chinese tradition with the vibrancy of a California beach wedding? A wonderful mix of the new and old. Following the traditional groom's meeting with his bride, in which the groomsmen had to perform feats and participate in all kinds of games to earn the brides trust, and a tea ceremony at the Ocean Hotel Richard where the bride was laden with gold jewelry, Anna and Richard arrived on Montara Beach.

They wed with nothing but the Pacific Ocean as their backdrop. Anna chose bridesmaids' flowers, which were unique ball-style wedding bouquets. Their headpieces resembled the garlands of Greek nymphs. Flowers were strewn across the sand and woven within the driftwood archway. The reception itself overlooked the same beach at the chic Peruvian restaurant La Costanera. Intricate centerpieces and elaborate table settings created a perfect vantage point to watch the sun go down over the ocean. Peruvian specialties followed appetizers and ceviche, while Latin wine, and of course lots of delicious wedding cake made this evening a day to remember.
