Art and Retail at Sunglass Hut

By

Art and retail come together for a good cause just in time for the holidays. Local multimedia artist Maya Hayuk will be customizing and hand-painting 150 pairs of Ray Bans' Wayfarers exclusively for Sunglass Hut, with 50 one-of-a-kind pairs available at the San Francisco store. Inspired by a range of subjects—from chandeliers, holograms and Mexican woven blankets to Ukrainian Easter eggs, crystal healing lights and time travel—now’s your chance pick up your own pair of these collectible shades while they last.

Proceeds from the glasses, which retail for $140, will benefit Luxottica's charity, OneSight and will be available both in-store and online. Stop by the store on Monday, November 30 between 1 and 4 p.m. when Maya will be creating an in-store installation in the window of the Geary street shop. You’ll also have the chance to see one of her murals before it’s auctioned off. Chat with the artist as you enjoy food and drink, all in the spirit of giving.

This event is part of a larger Sunglass Hut Artist Series that pairs up-and-coming artists with iconic brands. All of these collaborations will support the OneSight foundation, a family of charitable programs dedicated to improving vision for those in need worldwide through outreach, research and education.

Maya Hayuk will be at the Sunglass Hut at 170 Geary Street on Monday, November 30, from 1-4 p.m.
