Next week, the highly talented people from the California College of the Arts present NightLife at the Academy of Sciences dedicated to the convergence of science and art.

Delve into over a dozen industrial, interaction, illustration, fashion, furniture and graphic designers from CCA as they showcase a transformative portfolio of work that highlights new technologies and innovative ideas that explore the concept of metamorphosis.

The exhibit showcases giant interactive puzzles, short performance pieces documenting bizarre animal behaviors, and movement-based music and large-scale projections.

Christopher Willits, a multimedia guitarist, will immerse you in his soundscapes in the Coral Reef. At 6:30 p.m. in the planetarium, learn about celestial transformations in space during a live presentation, then witness the creative and destructive impacts that shape our planet with two showings of Cosmic Collisions. After, chat with scientific illustrator and Academy researcher Rachel Diaz-Bastin and discover how metamorphosis takes shape in butterflies, snakes and octopuses at the Project Lab.

As always, beats will be bumping, and this week grooves are courtesy of DJs Manitous, Mophono and Shortcircles, presented byOverlap. 6 - 10 p.m. $12, purchase your tickets here55 Music Concourse Dr. Golden Gate Park.
