Bill Cosby, Doug Benson, and More Ways to Laugh Your Ass Off

Bill Cosby, Doug Benson, and More Ways to Laugh Your Ass Off

By

A comedy legend, a comedy stoner, classic sci-fi TV improv, and an evening of riffing on campy horror classics — all this can only happen in San Francisco.

Michael Che

You should know Michael Che. He's been to our fine city many times. The NY-based writer and stand-up has been dubbed as Rolling Stone's 50 Funniest people in January 2013 and has done nearly every late night talk show and comedy festival on Earth. Plus, he wrote a romantic comedy parody called "She's Got a Dick" for Justin Timberlake when he hosted SNL. That is more than enough reason to love him.
When: Various times, July 9–12
Where: Punch Line Comedy Club, 444 Battery St.,

Doug Benson's 7/10 Day Show

America's favorite pot-friendly comedian and host of your favorite movie trivia podcast (Doug Loves Movies) comes back to San Francisco to celebrate 7/10. What is the significance of 7/10 you ask? Go to the show and find out.

Daniel Tosh

Nourse Theater plays hosts to people like Temple Grandin and Fran Lebowitz—so why not add the host of Tosh.0 to that roster and see what happens?

Fresh Like Cadaver: Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

The best way to watch one of the gloriously worst installments of Nightmare on Elm Street is with comedians riffing on it the entire time. This month's riffers include Joey Devine, Misha Trubs, and Gabby Poccia featuring host Andre Parker.
When: 8 pm, Friday, July 11
Where: Cinecave, 1034 Valencia

Pete Holmes

His infectious laugh pulsates through many-a-podcast including his own, "You Made it Weird." You may also know him from his own self-titled TBS talk show, but his claim to fame is that he's the voice of the E*trade baby, of course.
When: Various times, July 11-12
Where: Cobb's Comedy Club, 915 Columbus

Bill Cosby 77

Mr. Cosby personally chose the SFJAZZ Center for his latest show. I would also like to guess he chose it because San Francisco is one of the best places on Earth. For all of you who were raised on episodes of The Cosby Show, Picture Pages, or who have been listening to his stand-up since they were on vinyl, this show is for you.
When: 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Saturday July 12
Where: SFJAZZ Center, 201 Franklin

Warp Speed

Classic sci-fi TV of the '60s is begging for the improv treatment. That is exactly what this show is for.

Where: Bayfront Theater, B350 Fort Mason Center

Liz Grant's "Dating is Comedy"

Liz Grant is an expert when it comes to dating and things of the sort. The SF-based comedian has had her fair share of relationships (she's been divorced twice) and knows how to navigate the waters of the dating ocean (she was hired to online date for a busy executive). So if there is anyone who you should listen to when it comes to dating stories and/or advice, it's Liz.
When: 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 15
Where: Punch Line Comedy Club, 444 Battery

Slanted Comedy

Started by Edwin San Juan in 2005 and taken over by Mike Abara (a.k.a. Black Mike), Slanted Comedy brings the latest and greatest in Asian comedians.

The Plastic Cup Boyz

From Kevin Hart’s “Laugh At My Pain” tour, Na'im Lynn, Will "Spank" Horton, and DC Ervin bring the funny – and a lot of it.
When: Various times, July 18-19
Where: Cobb's Comedy Club, 915 Columbus

Louis Katz

Stand-up comedian Doug Stanhope once said this about Louis Katz: "Katz is funny to the point that Hitler would have given him a sleeper car on the train." That pretty much says it all…that and his unique blend of scatology and Jewish intellectualism.
When: Various times, July 16-19
Where: Punch Line Comedy Club, 444 Battery

Comedy at The Supperclub

Scott Capurro headlines a show of comedy that features food, burlesque, and music….all while lounging on a full size bed. Other local comedians expected to perform are Pam Benjamin, Pia Messing, Susannah Chovnick and Duat Mai.

Steve Byrne and the Cast of "Sullivan & Son" Comedy Tour

The cast of TBS's original comedy series brings their sitcom to the stage. So its like watching TV, but live and in-person! Cool, huh?

Adam Ray

You've seen him on TV on shows like Workaholics and Arrested Development and you probably noticed him in the movie, The Heat. Now you can notice him doing his stand-up routine.
