Frameline37: The 2013 San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival
Frameline is bringing the 37th San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival to screens around the city starting tomorrow! The festival is the longest-running and the most widely recognized LGBT film exhibition event in the world. The theme for this year's festival is Films Bring Us Together, with the belief that—whether a theater's bursting with laughter or with a tearful standing ovation—the art of LGBT cinema builds and strengthens community.
The festival will screen around 240 films from 29 countries, and will also bring some of the most festive parties of Pride month, where filmgoers can mingle with filmakers, actors, artisans, marketers, and cinephiles visiting from all over the world.
Special events include the provocative opening film Concussion—writer-director Stacie Passon's drama about a wealthy lesbian housewife whose straight-laced lifestyle takes a drastic and rebellious turn after a head injury. The closing night film brings Darren Stein's G.B.F, a comedy about a recently outed gay teen navigating his new popularity among the high school structures. Both nights also conclude with their own fantastic afterparties.
In addition, 7X7 is proudly sponsoring the screening of Something Real at the iconic Castro Theatre—a collection of documentary shorts about gay men and their art of music—which includes the short film Open Letter about the affirming online reaction to hip-hop singer-songwritter Frank Ocean's coming out. Come join 7x7 on June 27th at 1:45 pm at the Castro!
Frameline37 runs Thursday, June 20th through Sunday, June 30th. For complete information, visit frameline.org.
