Life Is a Wave So Help Save Some Waves

Catch a wave and you're sitting on top of the world...whether you swim it, surf it, boogie it, or simply admire it, the ocean is certainly something to be saved. With its yearly fundraiser, the Save the Waves Coalition is bringing its massive pool party to 111 Minna this Friday.

Having gone to the event in the past, every year more sponsors, artists and activities are involved. I don't recall a VIP reception before; the $75 ticket ensures oysters, beer, and tequila provided by Presidio Social Club, Hog Island Oysters, Gordon Biersch, Longboard Vineyards, Jim Beam, and Peligroso Tequila. Early bird tickets are already sold out, buy $20 general admission tickets while they're hot.

A live and silent auction will include awesome vacation packages, custom surfboards, wetsuits, ocean-inspired art, and more. Latin funk band the Bayonics will bring flavor, while Neo-Abstract artisit Robert D. Harris will bring the inspiration. I wonder if they'll bring back the life-size wave sculpture made of recycled containers — it makes for a righteous photo opp.

June gloom is in effect, consider yourself premonished: Life Is A Wave will be a bitchin' benefit.

Life Is a Wave, Friday, June 10, 6PM-Midnight, 111 Minna
