To celebrate Muni's 100 years of moving the citizens of and visitors to San Francisco, we held a photo contest to capture all the weird and wonderful ways Muni plays a part in SF life. After almost 200 entries on Instagram and Twitter, it became obvious how iconic all its trains and buses are to our city. To showcase all the awesome entries we got, we're putting together several different installments of our favorite photos.

This is the first of several slideshows, with the theme of "waiting for Muni," because let's face it: We've all spent a few hours of our lives waiting for our bus or train to arrive. We'll be publishing over the next few weeks, so if you don't see your picture in this one, keep checking back!
