Three Reasons to Cross the Golden Gate Bridge
You wouldn’t know summer had arrived living in San Francisco. But head over the Golden Gate Bridge and the weather is almost immediately 10 degrees warmer. Here are three outdoorsy reasons to cross the Golden Gate Bridge this weekend.
Take a Farm Tour
Enjoy the sunshine and warm weather in Petaluma this weekend with a farm tour and talk from a wilderness adventurer. The Tara Firma farm tour will teach you things such as how safe your food is, how chickens are raised and why pigs lay in mud. Children (and adults if they want) can hold a baby chicken and get up close with lots of other farm animals. In the evening, there will be a potluck and live music from 5:30-7 pm where guests can mingle and eat super fresh food before hearing a talk from guest speaker, Jon Young. Jon has recently returned from visiting the San Bushman tribes of South Africa who are still living a tribal lifestyle unchanged for thousands of years. His talk will focus on how we can incorporate lessons from the Bushman tribes into our everyday lives. The Farm tour is free, but there is a suggested donation of $10-20 for the potluck and talk.
When: Saturday, June 30
Where: 3796 I Street, Petaluma, CA
Browse Classic Cars
Winery owner, music manager, philanthropist and car collector Bruce Cohn is presenting the 4th annual Charity Car Classic this Sunday. Located at the B.R. Cohn Winery, look forward to more than 75 classic cars on show as well as an array of other activities to keep you amused. Numerous wines will be ready for drinking, as well as delicious food, live music, and plenty of green grass to sit on. The vintage cars on exhibit cover a wide range of eras and makes, and although the event is free you can make a donation to the Redwood Empire Food Bank of Santa Rosa.
When: Sunday, July 1. 12-5 p.m.
Where: B.R. Cohn Winery, 15,000 Sonoma Hwy, Glen Ellen
Grab your picnic blanket and come to the San Geronimo Summer Music Festival. This year’s festival is headlined by the Rock Collection, an all-star band that recently debuted at the Oregon Country Fair. The members of the Rock Collection have all had stellar music careers, touring with artists such as the Beach Boys, Ry Cooder, and John Lee Hooker. Local hip-hop artist, Sol Doc, and neo-reggae outfit Mi Gann will also rock at the festival. There will be a range of affordable and tasty food available as well as a jumping castle for kids. Tickets, which can be purchased here, cost $15 and partial proceeds go to the San Geronimo Valley Community Center food bank.
When: 4 p.m. (doors 3 p.m.)
Where: San Geronimo Valley Community Center. 6350 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, San Geronimo
