We Wanna Be Friends With: Sex Expert Emily Morse

By

A sex expert that's both a hottie and a San Franciscan? Seemed too good to be true, until we met Emily Morse.

But don't let her hilarious Loveline with Dr. Drew co hosting duties or 2012 Bravo show Miss Advised fool you–this chick knows sex AND the city. She earned her BA in Psychology from University of Michigan, has a doctorate degree in of Human Sexuality, and she was a former campaign aide for Barbara Boxer and Willie Brown.

Emily is now focusing on her bi-weekly podcast and website, where you can listen to honest, helpful, and sometimes hilarious advice on topics like "Porn Star Sex (It's Not What You think)." She's also teamed up with skincare guru Tony Sosnick for a line of intimate care products called Emily & Tony, and (this is our favorite) has a nicely designed and highly rated iPhone app called Kegel Camp that helps ladies reap the benefits of a regular, err, workout.

We love that Emily makes adult sexual education so easily accessible and un-intimidating, and can't wait to give her a high five next time we spot her in the Mission.

1. What neighborhood do you currently call home? Would you ever move or are you happy in your 'hood?

Most recent neighborhood is Noe Valley although I’m currently spending a lot of my time in Los Angeles for work (which is no San Francisco by the way). I love that I can walk outside my door in Noe Valley and find just the right variety of shops and restaurants. The farmer’s market on 24th street on Saturday morning is the perfect size, the close proximity to Martha’s coffee changes my life on a daily basis and the fact that I know (and like) most of my neighbors makes it even better. Plus I finally got a dog, so I fit right in.

2. What's your hands-down, absolute favorite thing to eat in SF?

This the hardest question I’ve ever been asked. Must I choose? Ok, I’d have to say pizza from Flour+Water. It’s thin-crust Neapolitan style, specifically the Margherita pizza with buffalo mozzarella, which is so delicious that my mouth is watering thinking about it.

3. What's your perfect night on the town?

It’s one of those Indian summer nights where you don’t need three layers of clothing. I walk to the Mission, meet friends for drinks at Lone Palm and then dinner somewhere nearby like Bar Tartine or Range (also really delicious cocktails at Range). Usually we stop at Good Vibrations along the way (I love that they’re open late) and show my friends the latest and greatest sexy products. Then drinks somewhere else and end up at a Project One gallery opening for some music and seeing friends.

4. When you need a low-key afternoon, where do you go for down time?

I’ve always loved walking the hills in San Francisco, so I usually explore different neighborhoods. In Noe Valley I head to Laidley Street and walk the Laidley Street stairs. Also I enjoy getting lost walking up and down the side streets in Bernal Heights and up to Bernal Hill.

6. What's your favorite place to go on a day trip from the city?

My favorite day trip is to Sonoma which often turns into a night trip. Aren’t those the best kind?

7. Quick-fire round:

Burrito or Burger?

Burger (I feel guilty about this answer being a San Franciscan for so many years, but the truth is, I’ve never loved burritos. There, I’ve said it)

Presidio or Golden Gate Park?

Presidio (but only because it’s usually sunnier and a fogged-in Golden Gate Park is just too damn cold).

Bi-Rite or Mitchell's?

Bi-Rite.

Bike or MUNI?

I’ve dabbled in both. I prefer to walk whenever and wherever I possibly can.

Fort Mason or Dolores Park?

Dolores Park for sure. I’ve logged way too many hours there.

The Independent or the Fillmore?

Fillmore.

Baker Beach or Ocean Beach?

Baker Beach (the naked part for extra points).

Three words that describe your life in SF?

Inspiring, hilarious, blessed.
