If, by chance, you've finished your holiday shopping and are not headed out of town for Christmas, we've rounded up a few fun events for your calendar.

Food+Lit
SOMArts Feast of Words Literary Potluck
This month's literary potluck theme is "celebrate" (how appropriate). Poet and playwright Arisa White reads from her work while youth chefs from Old Skool Cafe and SOMArts' Potluck Brigade serves dishes inspired by White's poetry.
When: 7 p.m., Tues. 12/20
Where: SOMArts, 934 Brannan St.

Music
Bob Seger
Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famer Bob Seger is in town—perfect for those with parents in town and for diehards of '60s-'70s heartland jams.
When: 7:30 p.m., Wed. 12/21
Where: Oracle Arena, 7000 Coliseum Way, Oakland

Theater
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Bring Dr. Seuss' magical tale to life for your kids (or for the kid in all of us). The Broadway musical production comes to town for the holidays and sure beats sitting at home by the TV to get in the spirit.
When: Wed. 12/21 - Sat. 12/31
Where: Golden Gate Theatre, 1 Taylor St.

Holiday
Hanukkah with Houdini
The Contemporary Jewish Museum celebrates the third night of Hanukkah in a big way. In a special performance, Conspiracy of Beards will sing songs by the legendary Leonard Cohen and will belt out your favorite Hanukkah tunes. Take part in a gallery talk about the Houdini exhibit, learn to make gifts like magic wallets, and don't miss the museum's famous driedel spin-off. If Thursday leaves your Houdini fix unfulfilled, go back on Christmas day when the museum will be open free of admission.
When: 6-8 p.m., Thurs. 12/22
Where: Contemporary Jewish Museum, 736 Mission St.

Film
Silent Souls, Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale, and It's a Wonderful Life
While the rest of the city slows down, the San Francisco Film Society makes sure you have plenty to do the week before Christmas. For all you scrooges out there, Silent Souls is a film about love and loss among an ethnic minority in Russia that has nothing to do with the holidays (12/23-12/24 and 12/26-12/31) For those with a sick sense of humor, there's Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale, a flick about the archaeological unearthing of the real Santa Claus and the mischievous activity that follows (12/23 at 10:30 p.m.). And, on Christmas day, catch one of four screenings of the movie classic It's a Wonderful Life.
When: see website for details
Where: San Francisco Film Society Cinema, 1746 Post St.

Holiday
Joyous, Jolly, Jingles
Forget midnight mass on Christmas Eve. The San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus brings an evening of cheer with their 22nd annual Home for the Holidays concert.
When: 5, 7, and 9 p.m., Sat. 12/24
Where: Castro Theatre, 429 Castro St.
