A Gala Evening with Michael Douglas

That is not a typo; Michael Douglas is coming to SF. The Oscar- and Emmy-winning actor, director, and board member will be hosting a special gala for the Ploughshares Fund (a public grantmaking foundation that supports initiatives to prevent the spread and use of nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons). The evening is centered around conversation exploring common ground to resolve conflict with Iran. Leaders from the Jewish-American and Iranian-American communities will also join the debate to explore prospects for stopping Iran from developing a nuclear weapon short of war.

Over 35 local makers will join forces to celebrate the launch, featuring pop-up shops, product debuts, and talks from SF Made and The Crucible. Local wine, beer, and appetizers will be served.

GSummit Conference With Neil DeGrasse Tyson

This year, GSummit is returning to SF for four days of hands-on workshops and big-name speakers to show off the latest benefits and applications of gamification and user engagement. Luckily, if you're just in it for Neil (it's okay, you can admit it), this is the first year that you can buy single day tickets just to see the three main speakers. Arguably the most famous intellectual in pop culture, Tyson is a frequent guest of The Daily Show, Colbert Report, and The Tonight Show. Plus he's the star of Cosmos, where he regularly blows our mind about the world and beyond. He'll be joined on stage by Jane McGonigal and Gabe Zichermann.

Details: June 12, 3:30 - 6:30 p.m., 635 8th Street. Get tickets here.
