Discussion
BAASICS.2: The Future
Artists, inventors, and futurists come together for a discussion about what lies ahead in the years to come. Former physicist and tech journalist Aaron Saenz talks good robots vs bad robots and prospects for synthetic life. It's fodder for the science geek in all of us.
When: 7:30 p.m., Mon. 6/18
Where: ODC Theater, 3153 17th St.

Celebration
SF Pride
The list of events goes on and on. Check out our picks for the Frameline Film Fest, booty-shaking dance parties, and fave drag shows. Folks of all persuasions can get down at Saturday's Bootie Mashup: Lady Gaga vs Madonna. Or head down to Saratoga to see Sarah Silverman at the Mountain Winery on 6/23 before she takes her post as celebrity grand marshal at this year's SF Pride parade on Sunday.
When: Through 6/24
Where: Various venues

Shopping
Chronicle Books Warehouse Sale
Do some early holiday shopping. Select Chronicle Books titles will be on offer for 65% off. Maybe your riding buddy would dig I Love My Bike. And your boozehound friend will definitely be grateful for an Absinthe Cocktails stocking stuffer. Make your list, and check it twice.
When: 9 a.m. - 7 p.m., Wed. 6/20–Fri. 6/22
Where: 680 Second St. (this location only)

Music
Céu
The Brazilian songstress with a string of Grammy-nominated albums will get your hips moving at her SFJAZZ show at Herbst Theatre. Expect to hear new material from her soon-to-be-released followup to 2009's hit album Vagarosa.
When: 8 p.m., Fri. 6/22

Art
"David Shrigley: Brain Activity"
Dave Eggers says he's probably the funniest gallery-type artist who ever lived. See for yourself at the only U.S. show of the acclaimed London exhibition. In typical Scotsman fashion, Shrigley injects comedy into his fine-art and never passes up a chance to comment on life's absurdities.
When: Fri. 6/22–Sun. 9/23
Where: YBCA, 701 Mission St.

Music
Avett Brothers + Jackie Greene and Stripmall Architecture
Cross your fingers for nice weather, and get yourself to the Greek for a folky Friday with the Avett Brothers and SF's very own Jackie Greene. Or head to the Indy for another brand of local flavor with Stripmall Architecture, and get your dance on.
When: 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. (respectively), Sat. 6/23
Where: The Greek, 2001 Gayley Rd., Berkeley and The Independent, 628 Divisadero St.

Music
Stern Grove
The annual, free music festival celebrates its 75th year in a grand way. The Big Picnic benefit kicks off the season with performances by R&B legend Anita Baker, funk masters The Family Stone, and the soul/gospel/jazz/blues singers of the Glide Ensemble.
When: 2 p.m., Sun. 6/24–Sun. 8/26
