One of the most influential photographers of his generation, Richard Misrach has produced work as diverse as images of graffiti produced in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, a series called “Oakland Fire,” which was presented at the Berkeley Art Museum and On the Beach. He will be in conversation with freelance writer and critic Steven Winn.

Transit of Venus 
The Exploratorium presents a live webcast for the viewing of the transit of Venus, an astronomical phenomenon that will not occur again until the year 2117.

Speck is unveiling its new iPhone 4S case at the ArtHaus' Inaugural Mobile Photography Awards competition and gallery exhibition. Apart from gift bags and giveaways, there will also be food and drink provided by Dogpatch-based Poquito and Moreno.

The Monster Drawing Rally
More than 120 artists come together to engage in a live drawing event. Spectators are able to watch the artists create their work and then purchase it minutes after its completion (for an affordable price).

Nixon in China
This rhythmically rich recreation of a presidential trip to Beijing has established itself as a great American opera, a work of “clarity, simplicity, shocking elegance” (The New York Times). A quarter-century after premiering at Houston Grand Opera, this modern masterpiece makes its long-awaited Bay Area stage premiere.

World Naked Bike Ride
The San Francisco edition of  2012 World Naked Bike Ride Day is this weekend. While it is a “naked” bike ride, all are welcome; ride as bare as you dare. That is, body paint, rubber latex, bikinis, topless, lingerie, bubble pack, or whatever costume you are comfortable riding with.
When: 6/9 at 11am for body painting, shooting for a noon departure.

Indie Mart
Peruse some of the Bay Area’s best local arts and crafts followed by a rocking after party. This Sunday a portion of 17th street will be closed off and filled with more than 100 vendors selling handmade, art, vintage, weird oddities, DIY workshops, customizable items, the best of locally made, food vendors/ pop ups & some food trucks.
