This Week's Hottest Events: Bob Dylan, Wallpaper and Rear Window

By

Music: Bob Dylan
Chances are you don't have tickets to Bob Dylan's sold-out show at the Fox tomorrow. Lucky for you, the legendary musician who single-handedly redefined song as poetry, is playing a second show at the Warfield on Wednesday, and tickets are not being sold in advance. Bring your sleeping bag, camp out at the box office on Tuesday night and come prepared with $60 cash. If you call yourself a music lover, this is your duty. $60; Wednesday, 8/25; The Warfield, 982 Market St., 800-745-3000, thewarfieldtheatre.com

Party: Cal Academy Nightlife with Wallpaper
This week, Cal Academy is bringing in the cool kids. With Outside Lands behind us and Treasure Island still a few months away, you can stay festival fresh with local favorites Wallpaper as part of Nightlife's summer concert series. The Oakland duo will bring their progressive dance beats to the museum along with the Downer Party. Bust a move. $10-$12; Thursday, 8/26; California Academy of Sciences, 55 Music Concourse Dr., 415-379-8000, calacademy.org

Celebration: DUSKER
The beloved Hayes Valley Farm (a.k.a. the old freeway off ramp) is an ever-evolving project, and this Friday they're celebrating the completion of a custom greenhouse with live music by Cyclyst & Friends, a design exhibition and tours by Ron Stanford & Nathan Sanders of Studio12Architecture & Blaine Merker of Rebar, hand-crafted libations, henna tattooing and more. Come support the project—the shindig goes from 4:30 - 8:30 p.m.—before you head out on the town. Free. $5 suggested donation; Friday, 8/27; Hayes Valley Farm, 450 Laguna St., hayesvalleyfarm.com

Film: Rear Window
Maybe it's just me, but sitting out in the freezing cold for movie night in the park just isn't appealing anymore. Lucky for us, the weather has finally taken a turn for the better and is feeling a lot like the normal summer we've been waiting forever for … just in time for Film Night in the Park's screening of Hitchcock's Rear Window. No matter how many times you've seen it, the story of voyeurism and guilt with James Stewart and Grace Kelly never grows old, especially with our downtown cityscape as your backdrop. Free; Saturday, 8/28; Union Square Park, filmnight.org

Music: Action at a Distance
Check this: two musicians, one living on the East Coast, the other living on the West, both making music together by trading song files back and forth over the internet. Billboard Magazine just featured them in an artist spotlight and they're having their CD release party right here at Amnesia. If you're into interesting new music with a local tie, come check out Action at a Distance and see Stacy Kray and Yair Evnine do their thing live. $5; Saturday, 8/28; Amnesia, 853 Valencia St., amnesiathebar.com
