Drink Break: Adult Hot Chocolate at Seasons Bar & Lounge
So you waited until the last minute to do all your Christmas shopping. You're stressed and you need a break after racing around Union Square stores. Your answer? Adult hot chocolate. Throughout the holidays, you can duck into the posh Seasons Bar & Lounge for a hot chocolate fix, with a twist. Spiked with vanilla, peppermint, or raspberry liquers and paired similarly flavored, housemade marshmallows, it's the perfect way to soothe those aching heels.  Seasons Bar & Lounge, 757 Market St., fourseasons.com

Music: Tricky
Enough of "Santa Baby" and "Twelve Days of Christmas." Squeeze in some quality live music that is anything but cheesy, holiday cheer. Tricky plays the newly refurbished Independent tonight. The venue recently received a much-needed facelift and will make watching Tricky's unique blend of rock, hip-hop, pop, and high art all the more enticing. $30; Tuesday, 12/21; The Independent, 628 Divisadero St., independentsf.com

Performance: David Sedaris' Santaland Diaries
Bypass the ballet's Nutcracker this year and inject a good dose of humor into the holiday season with David Sedaris' Santaland Diaries. Now in its 10th year and adapted to the stage in this one-man show by Joe Mantello, you're in for Sedaris' hilarious, side-splitting account of the holidays at Macy's. David Sinaiko returns as Crumpet, everyone's favorite elf. Make it your new tradition. $20-$30; Thursday 12/23 - Sunday 1/2; Eureka Theatre, 215 Jackson St., theeurekatheatre.com

Art/History: Contemporary Jewish Museum
Embrace your Jewish side on Christmas Day with a free trip to the Contemporary Jewish Museum. Check out the Curious George exhibit before you get serious while perusing a preeminent Dutch Jewish art dealer's collection, which was almost lost as a result of Nazi looting. Take a look at Torah-writing tools and try to decipher the lyrics of Cab Calloway's Yiddish tunes. Free; Saturday 12/25; Contemporary Jewish Museum, 736 Mission St., thecjm.org

Drinks/Art: Radioactive's Holiday Extravaganza
Christmas Day is a dead zone for activity in SF. Your options are pretty much limited to Chinese food, a movie, and a trip to the Contemporary Jewish Museum. But this year, there's one more option. Madrone Art Bar is opening its doors to bring you Radioactive's Holiday Extravaganza. Best known for his work with Spearhead, this guy jumps between beat-boxing, singing, and rapping like no other. Now that's what we call an alternative Christmas. Free; Saturday 12/25; Madrone Art Bar, 500 Divisadero St., madroneartbar.com
