The Yerba Buena Neighborhood in San Francisco —situated around the Yerba Buena Gardens and in close proximity to the bustling culinary haunts and “It” clubs of SoMa—is home to a majority of the city’s art galleries, so many in fact that you could basically re-name it SF’s unofficial art district. With so many galleries to choose from, and with works varying from abstract pieces, video installations, graffiti-inspired paintings and photography, visiting one or more galleries in this creative hub can be overwhelming and could easily take a whole weekend to explore. Because there is so much great art to see, by both local and international artists, the folks at the Yerba Buena alliance have thoughtfully planned the Yerba Buena Art Walk on Saturday, April 26, to make your SF art-crawling experience just that much easier. The Art Walk, which features ten participating galleries, allows art lovers and community members to spend an afternoon getting to explore what this innovative, art-filled neighborhood has to offer. With free admission and delicious refreshments and snacks provided by local businesses like B Restaurant and Bar, Press Club and Supperclub and participating galleries like 111 Minna, Catherine Clark Gallery, Varnish and Braunstein/Quay this super-charged art walk will prove to be better than your typical trip to the gallery.
