Ask A Vet: How Do I Make Sure the Cat I Found is Healthy and Happy?

Welcome to our weekly 'Ask a Vet from the SF SPCA' feature on 7x7.com. This week's Ask A Vet is from Laura Gretch, Manager of the San Francisco SPCA Community Cares Program. Ask your own questions in the comments!

Q: We found a cat in our warehouse. He's pretty cute and seems to really like it here, and we love having him around. Can we keep him? What should we do to make sure he's healthy, happy, and safe?

A: Well, it sounds like this cat has decided to keep you, so congrats! Cats in garages, warehouses, workshops and such are great company as well as providing green pest control. Give us a call. We'd love to find out what area you are in and where else there might be other free-roaming cats aside from the one who has adopted you. Particularly if yours is a kitten. Where there's one kitten, there are more...plus a mom...and a dad. We want to make sure all of them are spayed/neutered, healthy, and vaccinated. We can also set you guys up with a feeding program for your warehouse cat and others in the neighborhood.

By the way, if anyone out there is looking for a resident warehouse cat, we can help with that too. We are full service, here at the SF SPCA.
