<em>Vanity Fair</em> and Ann Getty Host Party for Bob Colacello’s <em>Out</em>

To celebrate famed journalist and author Bob Colacello’s latest book Out based on his former column which documented the glamorous life of disco and decadence of the late ’70s Vanity Fair along with Ann Getty, Denise Hale and Jo Schuman threw a party at the Ralph Lauren store on Wednesday, November 7.

SF Author’s Luncheon

The National Kidney Foundation of Northern California & Northern Nevada presented the 19th Annual San Francisco Author’s Luncheon at the Hilton San Francisco. Seven internationally recognized authors, including Michael Chabon, Tom Brokaw and Michael Krasny, each spoke for 15 minutes. All proceeds will go to the programs and work of the NKF of Northern California & Northern Nevada.

Performers for Choice 2007

Performers for Choice, a benefit for NARAL Pro-Choice California and the NARAL Pro-Choice California Foundation, took over Bimbo’s 365 Club for a night of comic relief, remarks from Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America and the presentation of the Champion of Choice award to Dr. Madelyn Kahn, an abortion provider.

Cocktails with Robert Redford

Mark and Susie Buell hosted a cocktail party for Robert Redford following the SF premiere of his latest film, Lions for Lambs, in which he stars with Meryl Streep and Tom Cruise (the film opened at the newly renovated Sundance Cinemas Kabuki). Former president Bill Clinton, among other luminaries, was in attendance.

Dr. Matarasso's "Seeing Is Believing" Party

Dr. Seth Matarasso—Botox and Restylane specialist to the stars as well as models, socialites and everyone in between—had a big birthday bash at Vessel. The "Seeing is Believing" party brought out more than 250 folks including Robin Williams, Vanessa Getty, Kamala Harris, Willie Brown, Paul Pelosi and Rita Moreno.

The American Diabetes Association threw its Champions Gala last weekend to raise funds for diabetes research, education and advocacy. Dr. Julie Gerberding, head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the first woman to hold the position, was the guest speaker for the event.

KIPP Spelling Bee

KIPP (the Knowledge Is Power Program) had 10 student finalists face off in its second annual spelling bee championship, which was hosted at the Gap offices by the KIPP Bay Area Trustees—Gap, Inc. cofounders Doris and Donald Fisher are trustees. Attendees included SF District Attorney Kamala Harris, Oakland A's VP/GM Billy Beane and SF 49er Vernon Davis.
