Look of the Week: Summer Wedding

As much as we love a good party, summer weddings seriously stress us out. Not only do you have to make a registry gift appear personal, but you also have to look fabulous without outshining the bride. Add in all the "rules" (ie. no black, no white, don't look like a bridesmaid, etc.) and you've gotten yourself into a true fashion predicament. But never fear, an upcoming wedding in our iCal has us scouring the web for an ensemble that will make us stand out from the pack (but not overly so), and we think we've come up with just the thing:

Cop.Copine Brings French Flair to Union Square

Housed prominently in Baccarat's former space, Cop.Copine officially opens today in Union Square. The Parisian fashion label is looking to bring a taste of French Bohemian style to San Francisco with their beautifully draped dresses, cutting-edge fabrics, a youthful edge and of course, a certain je ne sais quoi. With their grand opening party (celebrating Jennifer Siebel Newsom) still over a month away, you have just enough time to assemble the perfect ensemble for what's sure to be an affair to remember.

Link Love: Rodarte for Target, Chalayan for J.Brand and Saks Does Menswear

Daily reads from our feeds...

Rodarte is next in line to design for Target's Go International collection, hitting stores and the website December 20th. Thanks WWD, we're impatiently counting the days.

We Are The Market gives us the scoop on Saks' new private menswear collection, which consists of moderately-priced pieces from suits to socks, making its way into stores now.

7 Minutes with Couture Designer b michael

Couturier to the likes of Beyonce, Lena Horne and SF's own Pamela Joyner, b michael was this year's featured designer at Fashion On The Square held July 25th at the Intercontinental Hotel. After leaving the white-collar world of Wall Street, the NYC-based designer had stints at Oscar de la Renta and Louis Feraud before launching his own millinery line, finally taking the plunge into eveningwear in 1999. Gavin Newsom was so excited about his visit to our fair city that he even declared July 25th b michael Day. How's that for street cred? We were lucky enough to catch up with b michael for a quick chat to discuss the San Francisco aesthetic, his inspiration and plans for the future:

Things go horribly wrong when London Fog tries to erase Gisele's baby bump. The Frisky discusses.

The Sartorialist lets us in on his latest obsession and we think it looks suprisingly fresh.

In case you haven't wasted enough time at work today, you can now create an animated version of your sexy '60s alter-ego thanks to the impossibly addicting (and impeccably styled) show Mad Men.

Just when you thought jeans had reached their skinniest and were on the way back out, Racked gives us the skinny (ha!) on the new adjustable version from Rag & Bone.

Look of the Week: Head in the Fog

This week's weather brings to mind the cliché Mark Twain quote, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." Yes, dear readers, the fog has nestled in to every nook and cranny of our fair city, making us increasingly lethargic in the mornings as we're piling on layers instead of traipsing about town in a bright sundress. But there's no reason you can't still look seasonally appropriate while bundling up to face the fog, which brings us to our look of the week:

Link Love: MObama's New 'Do and Bambi's Latest Gig

Daily reads from our feeds...

In Michelle Obama news (via The Cut), the first lady debuted a new hairstyle at a country music celebration at the White House last night. Okay, we probably would have chosen a more glamorous place to reveal the new 'do, but it looks great nonetheless.

Note to PETA: it's time to ditch the red paint. We think Stella McCartney's Bambi ads (via Fashionista) are a better (not to mention cuter!) way to show your love for animals.

Conde Nast shows magazine favoritism (gasp!) by giving Men.Style.com the axe in October while introducing shiny new websites for GQ and Details, according to Ad Age.

As if the term "mandals" wasn't bad enough, now menswear designers are adding socks into the equation (via Refinery29).

American Apparel is having a really good sale, meaning they're now selling selected basics for the price they should have been selling them for in the first place.
