Albert Hammond Jr., best known as the lead guitarist for alt-rockers The Strokes, played material off of his debut solo effort Yours To Keep at The Independent. Although there are slight traces of The Strokes' sound in Albert  Hammond Jr.'s solo work, his breezy pop melodies are the perfect accompaniment to a warm summer's day. Cambridge, Massachusetts-based quintet The Dead Trees started off the evening with their brand of feel-good power pop.

Haling from Arles and Montpelier in the south of France, flamenco royalty the Gipsy Kings enchanted the crowd at the Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium on Friday, May 18.

Modest Mouse, the reigning kings of indie, rocked San Jose State University last Wednesday. Fans generously  welcomed newly added legendary lead-guitarist Johnny Marr of Smiths' fame. Philidelphia-based outfit Man Man kicked off the show.
