Point the Finger: Butter London Polishes

Some people smoke. Others turn to sweets. My version of stress-induced therapy? A mani-pedi. And I’m talking any mani-pedi. Whether it’s a mid-day break at the salon, or a leisurely DIY at-home session, I’m addicted to changing my polish. Although I’ve been hoarding every color under the sun since freshman year of college (yes, there is a difference between Essie’s Mademoiselle pink and Mistique Pink, thank you), I’ve only recently started paying attention to what toxins I might be inhaling each time I paint my digits.

Brilliant Earth Jewelry

Thanks to our annual green issue (just hitting news stands), we happily came across several worthy fashion and beauty brands that are doing their part to keep consumers–and the earth–beautiful. One SF company that’s gaining national exposure for taking a bold eco-conscious leap in the realm of jewelry is Brilliant Earth, which uses renewed or recycled platinum and gold, and sources its conflict-free diamonds from Canadian mines.

Style Lounge San Francisco

Yes, we know. It’s Monday. How to best survive the back-to-work blues? Start planning your weekend already! Here’s our pick for a hot shopping event that’s got a ton of great local fashion and beauty vendors on board—and is ideal for a day of girlfriend bonding. Event producer Lina Shatara even has 7x7 readers covered with a special promotional discount (2 tickets for $15). Just enter d329v08 when you buy tickets at www.mystylelounge.com.

1G Collection Handbags

As far as accessories go, this has decidedly been the year of the clutch. The handle-free bag once relegated to the realm of eveningwear has rightfully claimed its place as an appropriate option for broad daylight. The perfect clutch, then, is the rare breed that can go the distance, taking the working girl (and all her Blackberry-pushing, cell-carrying might) from a hectic day at the office to an after-hours cocktail soiree (and in this city, there are plenty!).

Denim Warehouse Sale

If you love the thrill of the hunt the way I do, The Warehouse Sale is where you’ll want to spend a good chunk of your weekend. This gargantuan sale promises to deliver more than 20,000 items (most of them are premium denim at up to 80% off retail). For the warehouse sale novice, these massive blowouts can put an infrequent bargain hunter into borderline freak-out mode. To avoid a retail meltdown, here are my top three tips:

Arrive (and leave) early.

K-Swiss Free Running Sneaks: Fashion Meets Function

If you’re never heard of parkour or free running, you’ve probably at least seen it before. (Remember that intense wall-scaling, rooftop-hopping chase through the Marrakesh markets in the James Bond flick Casino Royale?) What was once an underground physical activity has clearly made it to the mainstream, confirmed by the launch of K-Swiss’ new line of sneakers especially made for this urban gymnast’s sport. (The stuntman behind the Bond chase scene, by the way, is Sébastian Foucan, K-Swiss’ official spokesperson for the line.)
