Father’s Day Gift Guide

Mother’s Day has come and gone, but Father’s Day is nearly upon on us. Every year, I find myself searching for something that my dad doesn’t already have. Impossible! After getting an early start on my shopping this year, I’ve rounded up a few cool gifts for dads of all personalities everywhere (including the gift I already bought and wrapped for my pops—see number one):

Summer Color Trend: Fuchsia

Sunny skies call for shedding your basic black. We’re seeing this “it” color all over the city—from patent leather peep toes to bow bedecked jackets.

Dress Up

Adam Lippes, one half of now-defunct Adam + Eve, has launched his own line, Adam. We love this button-down silk dress in dip-dyed ombre that’s the perfect easy summer dress—wear it loose or give it shape by cinching the smock waist tie. $464; Romi Boutique, 2512 Sacramento St., 415-922-7664

Truth be told, I am a complete organizational freak. I color coordinate my closet, tape Polaroids of each pair of shoes to the outside of my Container Store shoe boxes, and fold every sweater uniformly. I’m the first to admit that it’s a bit obsessive, but damn my closet looks good!

Academy of Art Graduation Fashion Show

The Academy of Art University’s annual graduation fashion show Friday night proved to be yet another stylishly social affair. Under the Bryant Park-style tent at the university’s Brannan Street building, local gadabouts (Willie Brown, Sonya Molodetskaya, Joy Bianchi), fashion gurus (John Capizzi of Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue's Michael Fink) and celebrity designers and honorees (Ralph Rucci and James Galanos) gathered for a display of some of the city’s most promising emerging talent. “This doesn’t happen anywhere else, not even in Europe,” said Rucci.

Hats Off!

Famed SF hat makers, Goorin Brothers, are at it again. Hitting shelves for spring is the latest iteration of their 1333 Minna collection, designed this season by the well-known street artisans from the Seventh Letter Crew of Mad Society Kings. We loved the cool, original artwork that dresses up these basic men’s styles. Here, our top picks:

Morning Glory

Discarded to Divine Fashion Fundraiser

This year’s St. Vincent de Paul Society’s recycled couture fashion show & auction, taking place on April 26, has attracted the likes of such local fashion faves as Colleen Quen, Nice Collective and Jessica McClintock. Stitching throwaway fabrics into their own creative designs that were inspired by artwork from the de Young’s permanent collection, these artists, among others, will join students from around San Francisco for a fashionably green runway show under the tents at the Academy of Art’s Brannan Street building. Here, a preview of our picks that you’ll be seeing at the upcoming 7x7-sponsored event (all available for purchase at the event with proceeds benefiting St.
