Beer and Music Join Forces at Tomorrow's Bay Brewed Festival

By

Anyone who's ever known a musician or been to a rock show knows that beer and live music have long shared a natural affinity. Rocking out to a cool band with a cold brew in hand is one of life's great pleasures, and thanks to The Bay Bridged and the SF Brewers' Guild, drinkers will have their pick of both bands and beers tomorrow afternoon at the annual Bay Brewed Festival

Held indoors at Public Works (yes, you'll be out of the rain), the music portion of the festival features Brooklyn-based headliners Bear in Heaven, who specialize in futuristic, synthesizer-driven rock. They'll be joined by beach-poppers Sonny & the Sunsets; "electro-fuzzyjoypop" combo Born Gold; Blasted Canyons, who craft "drag race music for mutants"; Oakland-based analog synth duo James & Evander; and pop quartet Trails and Ways

On the beer end of the spectrum, drinkers who haven't been to a Brewers' Guild event in a while will see a ton of new faces, from nanobreweries like Almanac, Pacific Brewing Laboratories, Pizza Orgasmica, and Triple Voodoo to new Mission tenants Southpaw BBQ, MateVeza, and Southern Pacific Brewing. They'll join flagship members like Speakeasy, Anchor, Magnolia, Social Kitchen & Brewery, 21st Amendment, and ThirstyBear. Seoul on Wheels and Adam's Grub Truck will be on hand for those seeking a bite, and Yalls, Ears of the Beholder, and epicsauce will DJ between sets.

Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door, and include the show and unlimited beer tastings (food is sold separately).

Saturday, December 1, 12:30-6 pm, at Public Works, 161 Erie St., Mission.
