Black Lives Matter Protestors Shut Down Bay Bridge

Black Lives Matter Protestors Shut Down Bay Bridge

By

If you have the day off today, consider yourself lucky. A group of protesters have completely blocked the Bay Bridge as of Monday afternoon.

As reported by KTVU, the westbound lanes of the Bay Bridge east of Treasure Island were blocked shortly before 4pm, where a mass of people could be seen chaining cars together across the bridge in order to block traffic. A number of protestors were also chained together.

The protesters have been identified as members of a group called Black Seed, a self-described black, queer liberation collective. Police have begun to make arrests on the bridge, and right now three lanes are open again.

A separate group of protesters have also blocked an Interstate Highway 80 off-ramp in Emeryville this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Protestors also assembled outside the homes of San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee and Police Chief Greg Suhr on Sunday morning.
