Sidewalk Chic: Vintage Allure in the Financial District

Jaclyn Binder

Name: Vanessa Lavorato

Age: 22

Occupation: Student at UC Berkeley

Wearing: Vintage Damianou dress. ("My friend -who is 5'2''- had the dress and never wore it because it drowned her, so she left it on my bed. It sat dormant in my closet for three months until I tried it on a month ago. I wore it for the first time to my job at the Inn San Francisco, which is an old Victorian mansion in the Mission, and it fit the decor perfectly.") Goldenbleu clutch, Magrit heels, and dogwood blossom earrings by Rebecca Deans. (“She is a local artist who makes innovative and stunning jewelry.”)

Spotted: 7x7 Eat+Drink Awards at The City Club, 7:43 p.m.

Favorite SF boutiques: "Painted Bird. The clothes are hand-picked by local Mission hipsters, filling the racks with an unlimited array of 80's sweaters, leather skirts, and crochet dresses. It allows you to leave the store with a unique piece and your bank account still intact. Ellie Olson—previously Minnie Wilde, the owner renamed the store after her newborn baby—is a local designer who has a great fit, and translates the style of San Francisco into chic outfits at a reasonable price. MAC, it is a dream store. The clothes are original, breathtaking works of art that can make a girl the focal point of any party."

Why we love her look: Lavorato's well-pieced ensemble is a tribute to her affection for SF's vintage and indie designer scene.
