My commitment issues are out of control. Lately they've manifested themselves in my calling plan. I've been in a committed relationship with Verizon for two years. Things are good, we have great communication, calls are never dropped and the friendly tech person answers by the second ring, sometimes even the first. I had no complaints…until I saw the iPhone.
The first time it was fairly innocuous. Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone at the Macworld convention and I happened to be in the room. Sure it was impressive but I immediately dismissed it when he announced you had to hook up with AT&T.
Not possible, I'm perfectly content with my current situation. But that was almost two years ago. Today , the iPhone is everywhere. It's so sexy and mac-able. But what If I dump Verizon and have regrets? What if Verizon was the best thing that ever happened to me and I kicked them to the curb? Worse, what if I'm trapped in an unhappy relationship with AT&T for two whole years? I'm not sure I'd ever forgive myself if my cell coverage falters or calls start to drop. Plus, I already have an iPod -- am I really going to listen to music from my phone instead? I often listen to music so that I WON'T hear my phone. I've been quizzing everyone who has an iPhone: how's the battery life? Does the keyboard bug you ,and do you really upload all your photos? Unfortunately everyone seems happy. I pulled the trigger, and ordered one ten days ago. They keep calling me to tell me it's arrived but I haven't called them back. I wonder if they'd answer.
