Breastfest 2013 Is Bigger Than Ever

Breastfest 2013 Is Bigger Than Ever

By

One of the Bay Area’s largest beer fests is even bigger this year. On Saturday, July 13 Breastfest 2013will host over 70 breweries at Fort Mason’s Festival Pavilion. This charity event, staffed entirely by volunteers, raises money for the Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic (CMCC), a non-profit holistic public health facility that provides free services for women fighting cancer.

A ticket gets you unlimited beer tasting (there are also wineries and cider houses pouring their wares), food, and entertainment. Wonder Bread 5 will crank out the event’s rock n' roll soundtrack while festgoers can enjoy Snap Fiesta's photobooth and play skeeball with Joey the Cat. You can also win raffle prizes including bikes donated by Marin Bikes and items from Marin Brewing Company and Moylan’s Brewery & Restaurant.

Beer festivals like this give you the ability to sample handcrafted beer from a variety of brewers that may offer their beer only on premises or that are hard to find elsewhere. Buying tickets to this particular festival also helps many local women through the toughest period of their lives.

While there's a lot to choose from in this year's lineup, save room for these rarities:

  • Belgium’s Palm Breweries will be pouring Boon, Estaminet and Rodenbaugh
  • Maisel’s Weisse – An unfiltered Bavarian style wheat beer
  • Tieton – This cider maker has been developing such delicious innovations as adding hops to some batches and aging others bourbon barrels
