China Live Opens Tonight, La Cocina Restaurant Week + Off the Grid Returns to Fort Mason

La Cocina Restaurant Week


La Cocina is hosting its very own restaurant week featuring collaborative dinners between their program participants and some of the Bay Area's best restaurants and chefs. Highlights include chef Madison Montono of Pizzeria Delfina popping up at El Buen Comer and chef Guadalupe Guerrero of El Pipila taking over at A16. In the East Bay, Nyum Bai's new location in the Emeryville Public Market will host Sophina Uong of Mestiza Taqueria and Chef Robert Hurtado of Arguello will prepare a feast at Los Cilantros in Berkeley. China Live Opens Tonight

China Live San Francisco, a multi-story project in Chinatown, is opening the doors to its ground level tonight. The first floor will introduce Oolong Café, a 25-seat café featuring artisanal teas, Market Restaurant and Bar Central, a 120-seat full-service restaurant with everything from dim sum to dessert, and a retail market which will have a wide selection of spices, condiments, produce, cookware, and more. Off the Grid Returns to Fort Mason

Off the Grid kicks off its seventh season at Fort Mason Center on Friday. This year, guests can expect a new layout, an expanded, rotating lineup featuring 13 food trucks and 15 open-air kitchen vendors and 17 new vendors including Tia Chi Jianbing, Chef Yaku, Aburaya Japanese, Revenge Pie, Capelo's BBQ, and Turnt Up Tacos & Tortas. But don't worry, favorites such as Senor Sisig, A16, The Chairman, Jeepney Guy, and Johnny Doughnuts will still be on site to make sure you're fed properly. DJ DSHARP, the official DJ of the Golden State Warriors, along with Sacramento-based 9-piece ensemble, Idea Team, will provide the entertainment. // Friday, March 3, 5-10pm, Fort Mason Center, offthegrid.com


CAAMFeast: Stories, Food, You (& Roy Choi)

The Center for Asian America Media is hosting a reception, auction, and award ceremony honoring Asian American culinary achievement, including honorees Roy Choi and People's Kitchen. There will be tastings from LocoL, Hodo Soy, Boba Guys, Buffalo Theory, and more served alongside top-shelf cocktails courtesy of Remy Martin and Distillery no. 209. // Saturday, March 4, 401 Van Ness (Civic Center), Get tickets here.



Farm to Fork Brunch & Lecture

What better way to connect with your local farmer than over food and drink? Join Farm-To-Fork, an organization aimed at telling the stories of small food producers and farmers, at a bottomless mimosa brunch with food from Fine & Rare and Farm-to-Fork. Speakers include Kristyn Leach from Namu Farm, Pei-Ru Ko from Read Food Real Stories, and Jim Ryugo of Kitazawa Seed Company, the oldest seed company in America specializing in Asian vegetable seeds. // $60, Sunday, March 5, 11am-1:30pm, 969 Market St (Mid-Market). Starbelly's Patio Picnic Series

Starbelly's quarterly patio picnic series is back for 2017. On March 7th, executive chef Adam Timney will cook a whole-roasted pig picnic featuring porchetta-spiced roasted pig from Marin-based Devil's Gulch Ranch, grilled chicory salad, Anson Mills grits, and more.
