The Classics: Design Publicist Suzanna Allen and Interior Designer Grant K. Gibson
You’re best friends, but also very different. How do you each describe your style?
SA: Elegant, traditional and whimsical.
GG: Garanimals for adults—I’m always just mixing and matching classic pieces.
From whom did you inherit your fashion genes?
SA: My great-aunt Arapaticia, who loved jewelry and travel.
To dye or not to dye?
SA: Let it all go—I have been gray for over 25 years!
GG: I go see Emily and Daniel at Di Pietro Todd every few months for my highlights and cut.
If you were a set of chairs, what would you look like?
SA: I would be a French or Italian stool with leopard print fabric.
GG: An old wingback in beautiful black leather.
Style icons?
GG: Coco Chanel and Cary Grant [whom Grant was named after]. They both had perfectly classic looks.
Most embarrassing fashion moment?
GG: Last summer when I thought that a suit could work well with shorts. I am 6-foot-4. I looked like a little boy in adult-sized clothing. Not such a good look.
Style faux pas?
SA: Men who wear tuxedos with long ties instead of bow ties and women who don’t wear nylons! —Erin Feher
