Want to do your part to clean up the Bay Area this Earth Day? We rounded up just some of the places where you can pick up trash, help pull weeds, or just sweep a sidewalk. Afterwards, celebrate the Earth at one of the many eco-friendly parties happening around town. 


VOLUNTEER

Earth Day of Action and Eco Fest

The Pacifica Beach Coalition is hosting their annual Earth Day of Action and Eco Fest this week, which will include cleaning up streets, beaches, and parks around Pacifica with a festival to follow afterwards.  //  April 23rd, 9-11am, (Pacifica), pacificabeachcoalition.org

Baker Beach Clean Up

Baker Beach is one of San Francisco’s most prized landmarks; do your part to keep it beautiful. You can volunteer on Earth Day, from 10am to noon, to help clean up the litter on the beach. Presidio Plant Patrol

Volunteer to help restore some of the Presidio's most lush areas. Volunteers will help pull noxious weeds that can be harmful to the native biodiversity of the Presidio's native plants and animals.  //  April 22nd, 1-4pm, various locations, parksconservancy.org

2016 Oakland Earth Day

For Earth Day 2016, the city of Oakland is hosting their largest cleanup yet! Volunteers will have the opportunity to clean up six different areas of the city including, Arroyo Vieje Park, Allendale Park, Dimond Park, and more. //  April 23rd, 9am-12pm, various locations, oaklandnet.com

Earth Day at Corde Madera Park

Along with restoring and cleaning up local parks, volunteers in Corde Madera will be able to enjoy a lovely hike along the creek to see the endangered bird, Ridgeway's Rail. Keep your eyes peeled for aquatic birds and maybe even a River Otter or two along the way. Earth Day SF Street Festival

It's not a holiday in San Francisco unless there's a street festival. On April 23rd, San Francisco will be hosting a street festival and mini-parade featuring DIY workshops, live performances, celebrity chef showcases, sustainable green fashion shows, kid-friendly activities, and more. You can volunteer to help with check-in, setting up the event, greeting festival guests, working in the art zones, or helping with the festival’s children’s activities.  //  April 23rd, 10am-7pm, 22nd St. and Valencia (Mission), earthdaystreetfest.org

Oakland Zoo Earth Day Celebration

One of the biggest Earth Day events in the East Bay is happening at the Oakland Zoo. You can participate in a bunch of hands-on Earth Stations presented by some of the best Bay Area animal and environment organizations. Face painting, live music, and live animal presentations are just a few of the marvelous activities they'll be providing. Bring the whole family down.  //  April 23rd, 10am-3pm, 9777 Golf Links Rd. Park Chalet Coastal Beer Garden

Park Chalet Coastal Beer Garden is hosting a Cabana Party and concert for Earth Day featuring a kid-friendly performance from the award-winning Charity and the JAMband.
