One in every eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Want to help combat this disease that affects our moms, sisters, and friends? Join the American Cancer Society's Making Strides walk for breast cancer research this October in Golden Gate Park.

Every year, Making Strides is a celebration of survival. Cancer survivors and their families get together to to express hope and a shared determination to make this the last century of breast cancer. In fact, Making Strides is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting nearly 300 communities every year with a shared determination to finish the fight.

By signing up, fundraising, and participating in this noncompetitive, three mile walk, you'll be helping everyone in your community who has been affected by this heartbreaking disease. It could be your neighbor, barista, or coworker; you'll be helping everyone who is currently dealing with a diagnosis, those who may face a diagnosis in the future, and those who could avoid a diagnosis altogether through education and prevention.

By participating you'll also be contributing to groundbreaking breast cancer research and help people take steps to reduce their risk of the disease or find it early, when it’s most treatable. Won't you join the fight?  // Oct. 24th, Hellman Hollow in Golden Gate Park (50 Overlook Dr.), ascevents.org
