Want to learn how to make cider, knit a scarf, dance like Beyoncé, and enjoy some really good food all in one weekend? Read on.  


LEARN HOW AT CAL ACADEMY 

Head to the California Academy of Sciences on January 8 to enjoy a night filled with DIY and crafts. Cozy up during a cider-making workshop with Golden State Cider, then knit your grandma a scarf with some help from the gurus at GoGo Craft, before heading over to the East Pavilion to groove along to the ‘90s-era tunes from DJ Jamie Jams. Tickets are $12 ($10 for Academy members). Last entry is at 9pm. 21+ with valid ID.

NOSH AT THE GOOD FOOD AWARDS 

Stop by this annual open marketplace at the Ferry Building to enjoy the good food curated by some of the top food vendors from all over the country. Just remember to arrive early because the lines can get long and the samples are first come, first serve. Saturday, January 10: 9am to 2pm; Ferry Building Marketplace, One Ferry Plaza Tickets: $5 at the door at 9am (special early access tickets for 8am are $16)

SEE WHO'S HEADED TO THE SUPERBOWL 

SoMa StrEat Food Park will be hosting a free tailgating party on January 10 with a bevy of food trucks and bottomless mimosas. Catch the NFC Divisional Rounds on a surplus of flat screens while enjoying a Rib Whip and unlimited fresh fruit sangria for $16. Event begins at 11am. 428 11th Street 

FIND HIDDEN TREASURE 

If you enjoy Treasure Island Flea than you will love the Jack of All Trades Market: a curated mix of nearly 100 local makers, indie designers, antique collectors, artists, start-ups, and much more. In addition to the eclectic craft available for purchase there is a DIY workshop and (how could we forget?) an array of food and beer for sale, along with a live music. The event is free to the public. Every Second Saturday 11am to 5pm. Jack London Square, Oakland. 

DANCE LIKE QUEEN BEY 

If you’ve ever had an inner Sasha Fierce that you need to let loose this is your chance. Starting January 11, Queen B lovers can register for a 6-week course where a professional choreographer will help you master the iconic moves to her live performance of “End of Time.” Each session lasts 1.5 hour, and runs from 10:30am-12:00pm.
