"The Cat Party"

What: Have a deep love for your feline friend? You're not alone. Come celebrate all four-legged fur balls at the curated art show, "The Cat Party". Curator Colin Hurley will be offering free drawings of people as cats as well as cat poetry reads, rock music, cat video art, sidewalk drawing, bubbles, face painting, and probably a lot more. Food will be available, and not just catnip. 

When: Saturday, September 12th; 5-10pm 

Where: Grab your furry friend (and a lint roller) and meet up at The Lottie Rose Artist House Gallery (6117 San Pablo Ave, Oakland)

RIDE

Stanford Court’s Zero Motorcycles Demo Day

What: Boutique hotel Stanford Court teams up with San Francisco's authorized motorcycle dealership SF Moto to invite guests and adrenaline junkies alike to participate in their Special Zero Motorcycle Demo Day. Reps will be showcasing the latest in state of the art, electric bikes and rides are available for those with a valid license. Plus, food and drinks will be available! What more could you ask for?    

Why: Take a ride on the wild side. 

When: Get your engines ready by noon on Saturday, September 12th. 

Where: Stanford Court outside courtyard (905 California St, San Francisco)

INDULGE

Ghiradelli Square Chocolate Festival

What: Celebrate 20 years of sweet, chocolatey goodness at The Ghiradelli Square Chocolate Festival. Not only will chocolate samples be available for purchase, but there will be chef demonstrations, ice-cream eating competitions, and over 30 chocolate vendors. Attendance is free, so you might want to make an appointment with the dentist after. 

Why: Chocolate — 'nuff said. 

When: Get ready to satiate that sweet tooth during this two day event, Saturday, September 12th - Sunday, September 13th. Events start at 12:30pm and continues until 4:30pm. 

Where: Just follow the smell to Ghirardelli Square (900 North Point St., San Francisco)

EXPERIENCE

Kaleidoscope Virtual Reality Film Festival

What: The Kaleidoscope VR Film Festival showcases the best in virtual reality filmmaking as well as the top artists in the field. This one-day festival boasts a jam-packed schedule including talks and demos from top VR filmmakers and industry members. Even cooler, audiences will be able to experience these films on equipment and headsets supplied by both Samsung and Oculus VR. Tickets are available here. 

Why: This is so much better than shelling out $20 for Jurassic World 3-D

When: Get ready for a wild experience on Tuesday, September 15th. Events and screenings begin at 6:30pm - 11pm. 

Where: Grab a few friends and head to Public Works (161 Erie St., San Francisco)

GEEK OUT

Nerd Nite: Geeky Lectures in a Rock Club

What: What happens when you mix tipsy nerds with live-audience lectures? Hilarity. This lecture-in-a-bar series offers interesting talks, intelligent people, and some free booze to result in night of tipsy, knowledgable, and slightly salacious discussions. 

Why: Booze and Battlestar Galactica

When: Wednesday, September 16th. Doors open at 7pm; Show starts at 8pm. 

Where: Bring $8 for a ticket and head to The Rickshaw Stop (155 Fell St., San Francisco)
