Weekend Guide: Itani Ramen Pops Up + Blue Bottle's New Cold Brew

Whether you're a St. Patrick's Day enthusiast or prefer to lay low during the greenest and booziest Thursday of the year, we've got you covered with these Bay Area events.


DINNER WITH A VIEW

Pebble Beach Food and Wine

What: It's not just golfers who are fond of Pebble Beach: foodies from around the world flock to Pebble Beach Food and Wine festival every year to taste from more than 100 renowned chefs and over 250 well known winemakers. Over the course of four days, guests will consume lunches and dinners that range from fresh California cuisine to authentic Southern Australian provisions, attend first class wine seminars taught by some of the leading sommeliers (including one that discusses intersectionality in the field of winemaking), learn from the best in cooking demonstrations (one of which is taught by the first and only female winner of Iron Chef, Cat Cora), and finish up with the Lexus Grand Tastings, which boasts over 300 different wines to taste from, paired with some of the most delicious dishes you could imagine. This is a weekend of indulgence coupled with some serious learning opportunities, so it will sell out quickly. Get your tickets now to make sure you don't miss it!

GET YOUR FIRST TASTE

Itani Ramen Pop-Up

What: After anxiously awaiting the arrival of Itani Ramen for what seems like forever, chef Kyle Itani (Hopscotch) has announced a ramen pop-up series to introduce Oakland to his delicious new ideas. The menu is very limited, but that doesn't make it any less mouthwatering: menu options include your choice of ramen (regular or vegetarian), gyoza, a salad, and/or a pickle side. The Itani Ramen restaurant is slated to open in mid April, but we'll be in line for the pop-up every night until then.

When: Every weekend, March 19—April 10: 6pm-12am.

GOING GREEN

Green Nightlife at Cal Academy

What: Head down to the California Academy of Sciences tonight, where rivers of green beer, Irish coffee, and Irish whiskey will be flowing. After you've gotten yourself a green libation (you wouldn't want to get pinched, after all) try out your maker skills at the lucky charm craft table, then check out the Color of Life exhibit to view dazzling live animals and colorful interactives. End the night with tunes from DJ Chango.

FREE VIEWING

Pay-What-You-Want at the David Ireland House

What: The David Ireland House exhibit is coming to a close, and offering one last pay-what-you-wish viewing this weekend for those who haven't gotten a chance to peek inside. Contribute what you can and wander the artist's house at your own pace. Visitors will be admitted on a first come, first served basis.

When: Sunday, March 20: 11am-5pm. (The last group will be admitted at 4:30pm)

WINE CELEBRATIONS

The Judgement of Paris Celebrations

What: This year marks the 40th anniversary of the 1976 Judgment of Paris wine tasting, and Napa Valley wineries, restaurants, and hotels are coming together to celebrate the auspicious occasion. Silverado Resort and Spa is kicking off the event with a fabulous dinner combining the talents of Chefs Justin Yu (Hawker Fare), Matthew Accarrino (SPQR), Bradley Ogden (Lark Creek Restaurant Group), and Larry Forgione (Culinary Institute of America) paired with a fabulous wine selection, of course. Credo Beauty Presents Katharine L'Heureux

What: Katharine L'Heureux, founder of Kahina Giving Beauty, will be making an appearance at Credo Beauty tomorrow accompanied by Sasha Plavsic of Ilia for an afternoon of mini-facials, mini-makeovers, and the unveiling of Kahina's new Essaouira Perfume Oil. Turn a chilly Friday afternoon into an excuse to get spoiled by some of the best in the beauty business.

YOUR NEW MORNING RITUAL

Blue Bottle Releases Canned Cold-Brew

What: One of San Francisco's favorite coffee giants is releasing their second ever ready-to-drink product: Blue Bottle Cold Brew. To celebrate the momentous occasion, they're hosting a little party this weekend with light bites, music from local band China, screen printing, and, of course, samples of the delicious cold brew.

When: Friday, March 18: 12-5pm.
