Weekend Guide: KitTea Super Bowl Catstravaganza + Taylor Swift Drag Tribute

By

February is heating up with the Kitten Bowl (or Super Bowl, if that's your thing) and Mardi Gras parties. Here's the scoop on what to do this weekend.

The Purrfect Alternative to Super Bowl Activities

#KitTeaBowl Catstravaganza

What: Love the Super Bowl and cats? Then head to KitTea Lounge this weekend for a special catstravaganza. On Friday, one of their cutest cats-in-residence, Turbo, will (semi-accurately) predict who will win the Super Bowl. (He's also up for adoption, so you could also become the proud owner of a furry psychic!) Then on Sunday, drop by to watch Hallmark's Kitten Bowl! Hang out, drink tea, and enjoy the adorable sight of kittens running around on a tiny football field. Attendees will also be allowed to fill out their own Super Bowl predictions for a chance to win prizes. Just make sure to call ahead for a reservation, space is limited!

When: Turbo’s Super Bowl Oracle, Friday February 5, 5:00pm; Screening of the Kitten Bowl, Sunday February 7, all day.

Where: KitTea Lounge: 96 Gough St. (Hayes Valley); kitteasf.com

What: The annual Mardi Gras San Francisco-Style Celebration will be observing its 10th anniversary this year. As always, there will be delicious food, creative costumes, colorful beads, and amazing music to entertain and astound guests during this two-day festival. In honor of the Super Bowl, this year the festivities will commence on Saturday with a free concert by Tia Carroll on Fillmore Square Plaza, and then continue on Fat Tuesday with legendary blues artists Bobby "Spider" Webb and Alvon Johnson, followed by a true to form New Orleans-style processional down the Fillmore Corridor. The evening will be wrapping up with a Masquerade Ball at the West Bay Conference Center, so find your finest Southern threads and join the fun!

When: Saturday, February 6, 4:00 pm; and Tuesday, February 9th, 5pm.

Each installment of Seafood Stories will feature a menu from a lauded local chef exploring a certain aquatic species, fisherman, or oceanic concern, accompanied by a guest speaker. First up: Sex and the Sea! Guest speaker Marah Hardt will take diners on a journey unlike any other. Explore the staggering ways life begets life beneath the waves while Chef Scott Peterson of Fine & Rare serves up some of the most deliciously sexy fish dishes.
