Drink Here Now: 5 Places to Sip This Week

1. Drink Here Now Bartends at Bottle Cap: Hi, I'm Allie Pape, and I've been writing the Drink Here Now/Lowering the Bar columns for the past three years. I'm breaking the fourth wall for a moment to let readers know that on Tuesday, I'm going to be on the other side of the stick for a change. I'll be participating in Bottle Cap's Charity Guest Bartender program, dishing up $5 Barbary Coasters (Flor de Cana rum, lime juice, ginger syrup, falernum, allspice dram). I'll be donating any tips I receive to Planned Parenthood Shasta-Pacific, which provides critical healthcare and screening services to low-income women across the Bay Area. The bar will also have live music from guitarist Craig Ventresco from 7-10 pm. I hope you'll come say hello, have a drink with me, and give a few bucks to this great cause! RSVP on Facebook to attend. (Tuesday, August 28, 6-8 pm, at Bottle Cap, 1707 Powell St., North Beach.)

2. Almanac's California Table Beer Series Launch: Local nanobrewery Almanac has garnered national attention for their seasonal bottle releases, which incorporate fresh fruit and herbs from local farms. Now they're expanding their operation with a year-round table beer series, featuring two new flavors in four-packs: a Honey Saison made with honey from Marshall's Farm, and an Extra Pale Ale made with Mandarin oranges from Blossom Bluff Farms. To celebrate the new beers, they're throwing a party at Bloodhound with beer specials, free food from Deli Board and 1058 Hoagie, and gratis Almanac pint glasses for the first 100 entrants. (Wednesday, August 29, 6-9 pm, at Bloodhound, 1145 Folsom St., SOMA.)

3. Scoutmob's Tomato Harvest Patio Party: The folks at Scoutmob are throwing a bash on the patio of Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem this Saturday. The reason? It's the height of summer tomato season, and they're showing off multiple ways to enjoy the juicy goodness, including slices from PizzaHacker made with four different sauces that are each sourced from a different local farmer. The $30 admission also includes two build-your-own Bloody Marys (with local tomato water) or Speakeasy beers, recipe demos, and a lesson in container gardening (plus seeds) from Graze the Roof. [Full disclosure: your Drink Here Now editor occasionally writes for Scoutmob.] (Sunday, August 26, 12-4 pm, at Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, 2323 Mission St., Mission.)

4. $2 Martinis at One Market: Need to have a little fun during the week? One Market is making the power lunch more powerful with a simple deal: order an entree at lunch, and you can add on a martini for just $2 (limit two per person). It's what summer Fridays were made for. (Monday-Friday, 11:30 am-2 pm, at One Market, 1 Market St., Embarcadero.)

5. Royal Exchange Turns 40: The FiDi's Royal Exchange has been serving up booze and snacks to the after-work crowd for four decades, and they're rolling back prices to 1972 as part of the celebration. All next week, they'll be offering $2 Bud or Bass drafts and $4 martinis or Manhattans, as well as $3 hot dogs and $4 roast beef or turkey sandwiches. They'll have live '70s and '80s music on Wednesday from 8-10, and the whole thing will culminate in a blowout bash on Friday, with live music, $2 well drinks, and beer specials from 8-10 pm. (Monday, August 27-Friday, August 31, at Royal Exchange, 301 Sacramento St., Financial District.)
