1. StrEat Brew Opens: As promised, the capacious SOMA StrEat Food Park has finally added its first booze-centric trailer, offering a selection of local beer and wine to pair with the grub available from its rotating ten-truck lineup. The selection varies regularly, but always includes local craft favorites like Trumer Pils, Racer 5, Anchor Steam, and Speakeasy Prohibition Ale ($5/pint, $13/pitcher); a selection of bottles and cans, like Great White and Big Daddy, are $4. Happy hour, from 5-7 each day, features $2 PBR tallboys and $4 sangria in flavors like orange-ginger and strawberry-watermelon (regularly $6/glass, $24/pitcher). Check in on their Facebook page to receive $1 off your first drink. There's also a TV in the park, which could make it a fun place to catch the World Series action if the weather heats up. (Mon-Sun, 11 am-11 pm, at SOMA StrEat Food Park, 428 11th St., SOMA.)

2. The Science of Distilling: The Bay Area Science Festival is taking over the city this week, with tons of events focusing on all things scientific. But if you're looking for a few cocktails with your education, look no further than 111 Minna's Science of Distilling event, with representatives from St. George Spirits, Anchor Distilling, Charbay, 1512 Spirits, Essential Spirits, and SFVodka explaining how their products are made and offering tastings. They'll also have a hands-on distilling demo, molecular-gastronomy-inspired cocktails, and a mixology robot who'll be serving up drinks to participants. Tickets are $25 for Commonwealth Club members and $40 for non-members. (Tuesday, October 30, 6:30-9 pm, at 111 Minna Gallery, 111 Minna St., SOMA.)

3. Kurt Geiger SF Style Panel: UK-based accessories brand Kurt Geiger is also taking over 111 Minna for an evening this week, with a panel on the intersection of food, tech, fashion, and music, featuring representatives from Yelp, Tasting Table, The Bold Italic, and fashion blogs. Afterward, they'll serve three complimentary cocktails created by 15 Romolo's Aaron Smith, paired with British-themed bites from the Brass Knuckle food truck and music from Blackbird Blackbird. Tickets are $25, and include a $25 gift card to spend at the brand's new store in Union Square. (Thursday, October 25, 6-9 pm, at 111 Minna Gallery, 111 Minna St., SOMA.)

4. Cocktails From the Crypt: If you're willing to travel for a little Halloween fun, the folks at Jupiter Olympus in Oakland are offering an enticing cocktail-centric take on a haunted house, complete with a costume contest (and right around the corner from the Rockridge BART station, for easy transportation home). Admission is free, and cocktails ($10 each) will include enticing fall-themed recipes like tequila with hops, pu-erh tea, and Meyer lemon; whiskey and squash vermouth; and rum, pear soda, sesame honey, and lime. Check out their Facebook event for more info. (Sunday, October 28, 9 pm-1:30 am, at Ye Olde Hut, 5515 College Ave., Oakland.)

5. Haunted Happy Hour at Mr. Smith's: Project Open Hand, which provides free meals to seniors and people with chronic illnesses, is hosting a special happy hour at Mr. Smith's on Thursday, complete with a Halloween theme and a viewing of the World Series game. They'll have specials on drinks like Manhattans, martinis, margaritas, dark and stormys, and Moscow mules, as well as ice-cold PBR, with all proceeds benefiting POH's meal and grocery programs. Deli Board's new offshoot 1058 Hoagie will provide free sandwiches, too. Be sure to RSVP to their Facebook event. (Thursday, October 25, 5-10 pm, at Mr. Smith's, 34 7th St., SOMA.)
