Cider, Beer, & Spirits Garden at Sinbad's

Meet award-winning brewers and distillers and drink their wares this Saturday from 11am to 2pm at the Good Food Awards Cider, Beer and Spirits Garden, hosted by Sinbad's restaurant at Pier 2 on the Embarcadero. The $16 entry fee includes five tastes from among three winning beers, four winning spirits, and two winning ciders from both coasts, the Eastern Seaboard, Rocky Mountains, and Bluegrass country. The entry fee also includes access to the Good Food Awards Marketplace ($5 value), located steps away in the Ferry Building, where you can purchase winning products from the other Good Food Award categories: cheese, charcuterie, coffee, cocktail modifiers, chocolate, confections, oils, honey, pickles, and preserves. If all that food makes you thirsty, you can purchase an additional five tastes of beer, cider and spirits for $8. 141 The Embarcadero

Get Your Comedy for Nothing and Your Drinks for Free

If your New Year's resolutions include laughing more or spending less, make your way to Sports Basement on Friday evening. From 6:30 to 8:30pm, the Potrero Hill gear store is hosting Good Times in the Grotto Free Comedy Night, complete with free drinks and snacks. Host and local comedian Anthony Medina brings in a diverse lineup of Bay Area talent for the mostly-monthly event, on the second Friday of the month. No word yet on the line-up of comedians, the selection of snacks, or the beverage of choice, but if you're not satisfied with the free offerings, you can always demand your money back. 1590 Bryant Street

Competitive Bar Crawl with Hi-Jinks

What do you get when you mix a bar crawl with scandalous challenges, daring photo-ops and willing strangers? Saturday Night Action Club's New Year's Deresolution Scavenger Hunt. Buy a ticket online for $20, and organizers will reveal to you the secret starting venue (somewhere in the Lower Haight) where you should arrive at 7pm for pre-game partying and the picking of teams. The first 10 people to arrive will be awarded a free drink. Official shenanigans begin at 8pm, with secret snapshot missions for your team such as Build a Human Pyramid and Everyone Climb That Tree. At 9:45pm, the surviving teams will meet back at the starting bar for a slideshow recap, prizes, and more drinks.

Excuses, Excuses

Looking for a good excuse to visit Wine Country? Anaba Wines just provided one. Throughout the month of January, the Sonoma Valley winery will be donating $2 to Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance for every bottle of wine sold in their tasting room. The Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance matches at-risk public school students with adult role models from the local community. Currently, 450+ K-12 students work one-on-one with more than 450 volunteer mentors. This is the third year Anaba has undertaken the fundraising campaign as part of National Mentoring Month. 60 Bonneau Road, Sonoma
