It’s officially Earth Day today, but shouldn’t everyday be an earth day? Where your wardrobe is concerned, it’s easy to make that happen at these top eco-friendly San Francisco shops and boutiques:

Eco Citizen: Fair trade, eco-conscious fashions from such designers as EDUN, Loomstate, Linda Loudermilk and Del Forte Denim are on display at this Russian Hill boutique.

Just in time for Earth Day, San Francisco Baykeeper is hosting the launch of Kiehl’s latest environmental initiative, a limited edition collection of Kiehl's Superbly Restorative Argan Body Lotion to benefit the Waterkeeper Alliance. In partnership with Adrian Grenier, Erykah Badu, Kelly Slater and Parsons New School for Design, 100% of proceeds from these bottle sales will support the grassroots organization's efforts to preserve and protect our water from pollutants. Buy a bottle—it's your small way of helping the planet.

Do your Earth Day duty—plant a tree and then head over to the SF Center for the Book, where you can letterpress print and bind a special journal, create collograph prints using natural materials and print clever postcards to send to your elected representatives. It may seem slightly counterintuitive but everything at the center is either recycled or natural. Join the family-friendly fun and talk about all the easy things you can do to be green.

Once a year, we officially honor the planet we call home, and to celebrate, the California Academy of Sciences has developed a series of timely programs and rich exhibits against the backdrop of Golden Gate Park. Help kick off the events at the museum's Sustainability Fair with live animal demonstrations and hands-on activities. Check out naturalist-led tours of Stowe Lake and the park’s oak woodlands, which will shed new light on familiar habitats and offer steps you can take to lead more eco-friendly lives to help protect fragile habitats around the world.
