Your guide to the tastiest foodie happenings going down this week. Bon appetit!

Wise Sons Bagel & Bakery Opens Friday

The long-awaited Wise Sons Bagel & Bakery will open its doors on Fillmore Street this Friday, filling a much-complained about void in San Francisco’s bagel scene. In addition to bagels (they plan to make more than 5,000 every day!), patrons will be able to purchase smoked salmon and pastrami by the pound as well as order from a new menu featuring tasty bagel sandwiches and salads—we recommend the egg and cheese bagel for breakfast followed by the smoked trout salad with butter lettuce and watermelon radish for lunch. Yum. // Mon-Fri, 7am-3pm, Sat-Sun 8am-3pm, 1520 Fillmore Street (Western Addition); wisesonsdeli.com/fillmore

Telefèric Barcelona Launches Brunchelona

The new Spanish tapas restaurant in downtown Walnut Creek, Telefèric Barcelona, is launching Brunchelona—their version of traditional Barcelonan brunch— this weekend. The new menu includes tasty omelettes served with serrano ham or chorizo and manchego cheese, fried eggs over truffle potatoes, and pepito sandwiches made with everything from Basque steak to tuna. It's worth the drive — trust us. // Served Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30am to 2:30pm; 1500 Mt. Diablo Blvd. (Walnut Creek)telefericbarcelona.com

On Saturday, February 27th Stanford professor and author Dan Jurafsky will be at Omnivore books to read from his newest publication, The Language of Food: A Linguist Reads the Menu, which explains foodie nuances such as menu adjectives— why do we use "rich" and "crispy?" —and the marketing lingo on the back of a bag of potato chips. // Free, 3-4pm, Saturday February 27, 3885 Cesar Chavez St (Dogpatch); omnivorebooks.com
