The summer countdown begins with a bevy of outdoor activities.

RIDE

The Ride Formerly Known as Hella Big Bike Party

What: The annual Bay Area celebration of bikes and debauchery covers twenty miles of easy riding in what's sure to be an "interesting" night. Join a scrum of fellow bikers for a rowdy takeover of East Bay streets.

Why: Biking twenty miles will instantly burn any beer calories you're intaking.

When: Make sure your tires are pumped by 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 6.

Where: The ride begins at Ashby BART at 3100 Adeline Street in Berkeley.

WOOF

Dog Day Afternoon & Cook-Out

What: An afternoon fair for pups features a cook-out, photographers, a pet boutique, and a small animal show. Bonus: your pooch can create a one-of-a-kind piece of art to hang on the refrigerator in a paw painting event. Proceeds will benefit the Marin Humane Society, and shelter dogs will put on a fashion show modelling Kathy Kamei Designs Jewelry. And, as an additional treat for the humans, the event is hosted at Cavallo Point Lodge, one of Travel and Leisure's "Top Resorts in California."

Why: Treat your pup to an afternoon at one of the most scenic resorts in the world.

When:The festivities take place on Sunday, June 7 from 12-4 p.m.

Where: Your dog can frolic (on leash) on the lawn at Cavallo Point Lodge in Sausalito, with views overlooking the Golden Gate.

SHOP

Union Street Festival

What: The San Francisco tradition features a six-block bonanza, with each block dedicated to fashion, technology, local exhibits, crafts, health and fitness, and, of course, food. In its 39th year, the festival promises a full day of community, activities, and culinary treats.

Why: Eat, drink, and shop on Victorian-lined Union Street.

When: Stop by the bustling festival on Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6from 10 a.m-6 p.m.

Where: Meander your way along Union Street from Gough to Steiner.

DANCE

Dancing Under the Stars Kick Off

What: Jack London Square's annual summer dancing season kicks off on Friday night with free Salsa lessons.

Why: Free dance parties make for perfect, laid back date nights or casual nights out with your friends.

When: The first free dance lesson is Friday, June 5 at 8:30 p.m., with a dance party commencing at 9 p.m. Lessons are also available every Friday throughout June.

Where: Shimmy and shake at the foot of Broadway in Jack London Square.

Warriors Watch Parties

What: Watch the Dubs shoot threes with the Bay Area community at a variety of locations, including Tribune Tavern in Oakland and SoMa StrEat Food Park. Deck out in Blue and Gold while you devour a burger or enjoy food from one of SF's most famous food trucks.

Why: Cheer on Steph and Klay while enjoying good grub.

When: Viewing parties take place during any of the Warriors' final games: the first two are on Thursday, June 4 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 7 at 5 p.m.
