The Eat and Drink List: This week's top 7

Cowgirl Take Me Away
On May 21 Gayle Pirie and John Clark of Foreign Cinema will open their kitchen to cowgirls—well, to Sue Conley and Peg Smith, founders of Cowgirl Creamery, that is. The dinner, part of an ongoing celebration for the restaurant’s tenth anniversary, will feature courses showcasing Cowgirl’s signature cheeses, including one that Conley and Smith (who will be on hand throughout the dinner to answer questions) made expressly for this meal. Reservations are recommended; to make yours, call 415-648-7600.

Mission Possible
Because this city can’t go a month without the opening of another pasta and wood-oven-fired pizza joint, we proudly submit Flour + Water for your scrutiny. With an interior designed by Sean Quigley (Paxton Gate), a team of fresh-faced young cooks and a great Mission location at 20th and Harrison, we predict great things for this newcomer, which opened last Friday.

We All Scream
Just in time for summer (we hear there’s going to be another heat wave this weekend), Three Twins Organic Ice Cream is opening shop in Lower Haight. It's the first SF store and the only organic ice cream joint in the city. Head over and taste the decliciousness for yourself.

Herbal Essence
Absinthe’s gin dinner on May 21 promises to be a juniper-fueled dip into the world of two delicious British powerhouse producers—Beefeater and Plymouth. Join master distillers Desmond Payne and Sean Harrison for a side-by-side gin tasting, followed by a four-course dinner with gin cocktails to accompany each course. Welcome cocktails and hors d'oeuvres start at 6:30, followed by dinner at 7:30. For reservations, contact Vanessa Harris at 415-551-1453 or vharris@absinthe.com

Tequila Tutorial

Cinco de Mayo may be over, but that doesn’t mean the party should end. On May 21 Tres Agaves will be hosting a dinner with Nicole Hajek, brand ambassador for Tequila Corralejo, one of few tequilas produced outside of Jalisco. They’ll be a margarita-making class, a tequila tasting, five-course meal and, of course, a mariachi serenade. Tickets are $75; to book a spot call 415-227-0500.

Get Baked
Anyone who has had the pleasure of a brownie from Brooklyn’s Baked bakery will tell you that the owners, Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito, know their way around sugar. Their latest book, a collection of recipes from the bakery titled Baked: New Frontiers in Baking, brings you into their world, one treat at a time. Meet them (and pick up a copy of this essential cookbook) on May 27 at 12:30 p.m. at Book Passage in the Ferry Building or May 29 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Omnivore Books. Let’s hope they bring sweets to share!

The Coi Co-op
Daniel Patterson will be handing over his Coi kitchen—for two nights only—to the very talented duo of Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski (they all worked together back at Rubicon). Patterson will be in Copenhagen on May 29 and 30, and while he is gone Nicole and Stuart will be cooking at Coi, preparing a five-course menu for $85. These two special dinners will certainly sell out, so make your reservations now: 415-393-9000.
