1) I Can Has Beer?
Yes, you can have free beer, this Wednesday, with #KittenCamp at Butter. At 6:30pm, the #KittenCamp crew will kick off the final stage of their US tour, bringing this popular UK bar phenomenon to SoMa. The evening starts with an “epic meme battle,” pitting Meme-Master Meow against the LOL Puppy tag team of Arron Creechley and Jacob Pepper. Guest speakers will follow, including the team behind FanDrop and TubeRank, plus Ken Pontac, writer of the silly and inappropriate internet sensation, Happy Tree Friends. Tickets are free, but RSVP is required. There will also be free beer, but keep in mind that Butter “...serves only the freshest Pabst Blue Ribbon on tap and a wide selection of 16 oz. tallboy canned beers.” The food menu is similarly low-brow, “utilizing multiple microwaves...” to create “...tasty, home-cooked selections just like your babysitter used to make.”

2) First Fridays Art Crawl in North Beach
For something a little more high-brow, head over to North Beach for First Fridays Art Crawl, from 6 to 9 pm. Most of the neighborhood gets into the act, with art galleries, bars and restaurants staying open late so you can browse the area's ever-growing collection of art and entertainment. This week’s line-up includes Electric Sheep, a digital art show at Art Attack SF (272A Hyde) featuring digital painting, digitally manipulated photography, computer animation and CGI. It also includes live music and wine at Craig Fonarow Photography (527 Columbus), and happy hour until 9 pm at Bottle Cap (1707 Powell), if you mention you’re there for First Fridays. If you want to drink beer and take home some art, stop by Church Key (1402 Grant) for the I’m Tired of Having This Stuff in my House mixed media liquidation sale.

3) SF Indie’s First Friday Roller Disco
Break out your bell bottoms and get ready to roll, at SF Indie’s First Friday Roller Disco Party in the Mission. It’ll be just like middle school, except there will be alcohol, and you have forgotten how to skate. The Women’s Building (3543 18th St. @ Valencia) hosts this monthly roller-skating soiree, which doubles as a fundraiser for SF IndieFest. A $10 donation gets you into the auditorium at 8 pm, where you’ll find skate rentals and groovy tunes provided by Black Rock Roller Disco. (You can bring your own skates, if you’ve got them.) The ticket price does not include liquid courage, so bring cash to spend on beer, wine and cocktails ($3-6). And by all means, wear a costume– preferably one with extra padding for the inevitable, alcohol-induced wipeouts.

4) Free Comedy Happy Hour at Cafe Royale
If you could use a few free laughs after a long, hard Monday, Cafe Royale has got you covered. Cara Tramontano hosts the neighborhood beer and wine bar’s bi-weekly Comedy Happy Hour every other Monday in the Tenderloin. Expect anywhere from four to eight local comedians, plus $1 off all beverages. Located at 800 Post (@ Leavenworth), Cafe Royale’s drink menu focuses on craft beer, with a handful of decent wines tossed in for good measure. Lil’ May from Hyde Away Blues BBQ brings over a different spread of mouth-watering morsels each week. Typical items for sale include BBQ Ribs, Cornbread, and Lobster Mac & Cheese.

5) JetPac Travel Trivia Night
Meet interesting people and mock their ignorance of geography at JetPac Travel Trivia Night this Tuesday at Bissap Baobab (3372 19th St. @ Mission). Arrive at 7 pm for the travel social mixer. Travel trivia begins at 7:30 pm sharp. Bring your own crew of up to five people, or team up with others on the spot. The quiz features a mix of geography, culture and travel related questions at varying levels of difficulty, so it pays to have a globetrotter on your side. No fair looking up answers on your smartphone. Bissap’s trivia night menu specials include $2 chips and guacamole, $3 aloko (fried plantains), $4 Beers, and $6 Sedem (rum infused hibiscus, tamarind, and ginger juice).
